View Full Version : RaF - Best new toon to boost with

Looking for some input.
I have my main account with a couple geared 85s currently (paladin, priest, druid, dk). I was planning on doing RaF with three accounts, A - B - C and boosting a few more characters. It sounds like the best way is to boost some using A, the use a new toon (now 80) on C to boost A & B to 40, then grant levels. My question is what is going to be the easiest toon to boost to 40 with?
My current thought is to (hopefully) do a couple sets. The toons I can see boosting are:
warrior, hunter, rogue, shaman, mage, warlock
Eventually (depending on how this goes) I might try to have one of each at 80, and probably a set of three of either shamans, mages, or maybe DK's.
So my initial question would be, out of the list of six classes above, which would you recommend using at 80 to boost some toons to 40?
Thanks.

Pali and Druid are easy tanks.

There is no need to take a tank specced toon to boost with, I would boost with a frost DK for sure. I took Selzs toons into dungeons the other night, and I just spammed Howling Blast + DaD and I cleared the dungeon pretty fast.
I'm boosting 4 druids with my Frost DK (ilvl 387), and it's gone very quickly. I haven't had a lot of time to play, but they're already knocking on the door of level 60 and I only started up RAF less than a week ago.

RET pally, run around with devine storm spam... it's aoe, decent dmg, use seal of righteousness for extra aoe dmg, and it heals as well which helps with aggro and if your slaves get too close will heal them back up if hit by something.
Frost DK would also work very well.
Both these classes have strong instant aoe abilities, can self heal, wear plate and have ranged attacks for grabbing mobs
Edit: But yea, for low lvl boosting, do not use a tank, use a dps, many times quicker

Honestly, for anything below level 50, a tank would work fine. All the mobs die from a single hit anyways. But it'd start to get annoying around the upper 50s and into TBC content.

Thanks for the replies. Actually not quite the question I was asking, but I think I've got a decent idea anyway.
I already know which toon I plan to use from A to boost with, the question was which new toon on C would be the best to boost A & B to 40 with? Without having redundant classes the available classes would be warrior, hunter, rogue, shaman, mage, and warlock. I guess if I eventually plan to have 3x DKs though, that might be a good class to replicate and then use for boosting.

Get some gear on the 80 mage then just go around aoe spamming everything.

nvm i read down. Just level a set of DK's first then. Get to 85 run a three dk team to gear your C account. Should be a cakewalk to RAF. Just remember that they cannot heal your toons, and if they die their XP levels get jacked around.
After that level every class to 80. Start with shamans just in case you get bored of leveling. Then druids, and do warriors last. I wont say never, because if you played a warrior main for the stuns of mop with some dks and a Hpally then you are going to rock the house.
Or you can be a team player and run three resto druids.

this is why I wouldn't boost with a DK. Although I haven't boosted since they changed it so you can basically just park your toons at the entrance of every dungeon and then go kill, so maybe it doesn't matter as much.
My vote is for ret pally.

Before I started multiboxing I had a friend who boosted his toons (non multiboxing just multiple accounts) with low toons at the door, with druid gathering up the whole instance and AOE within XP range. worked quite well in fact. Druid bear tank of course. Seemed to be the class that at the time took less damage when multiple level 60 elites start pounding on you.
But ret pally may do more damage. Then again feral cat may do just as well.
When I did start multiboxing with two other accounts, I boosted with my hunter. Quite effective IMO, however took more damage cause being pure DPS and not having any avoidance or DR from plate armor.
