View Full Version : [Keyclone] New Dual-Boxer Needing a Helping Hand!

Hi there! I just started with dual-boxing recently. I got keyclone, and i think i set it up properly, both of my characters can cast spells and such and jump etc. However moving is awkward with them. I have to use the mouse to move the Master because if i used WASD then the slave moves retardedly compared with the master haha. I'd use the arrow keys but they're so far away from the number keys that it would be bad for me in combat to use. Also i prefer to click spells a lot rather than using keys, so is there a way to have mouse clicks translate on the slaves window and also be able to move them both without using a /follow macro?
Also any tips would be greatly appreciated! Currently i'm dual-boxing orc mages on Thrall-US.

You need to blacklist the WASD keys through the Do-not-pass section.

Clicking to cast is frankly the wrong way to do it. Clicking is slower than keypresses and often far more inaccurate. It is usually reserved for infrequent actions.
While there is the ability to pass mouse clicks, it is not something that can be "always on" with Keyclone. Even if it were something that was always on, it still wouldn't work for movement as your clients will never be 100% in the same exact position. You will need to use follow.

I tried blacklisting WASD but then i hit the issue of when i type in my password or try to talk it doesn't pass those keys on.

I'm not familiar with KeyClone, but I would imagine that there is a "pause" feature to enable you to type out things and whatnot.

So here's another question then. I'm trying to decide between Fire and Frost for leveling my mages. Fire seems more bursty but Hotstreak procs seem hard to work with dual boxing, frost seems pretty good too but the pets are meh, and the damage isn't quite as high. Survival as both specs im still trying to figure out haha.

Frost or arcane are what most people go with for multiboxing.

Go arcane. Its a two button setup, and most thing die before getting to you. You could run a frost in the mix for the slows/pet freezes if you want.
I dont thing for leveling it matters. Killing isn't the problem, looting is.
I am partial to fire.

So far i've been doing arcane now and it seems pretty awesome, looting i dont have too uch of a problem since i just have FFA on and have my master loot all stuff, if bags fill up then i trade stuff to the slave and continue. If i need to loot something on the slave character then i just mouse over to the slave character. I have dual-monitors so i have both WoW windows open side by side so i can just mouse over from one to the other.

From what ebony is saying (she leveled a team through MoP beta), it's not nearly as railroaded as Cataclysm was.

Cata sucks, even with a solo character. Been a few times already where I found myself questless, in a zone where I knew there were still quests to do. Run around to all the hubs and finally find that one npc I had to talk to to trigger a quest. Its really a pain.

Ah yeah that's true. Even so it isn't too bad for me it seems, while i don't particularly like those quests i can do them since i can mouse over to the slave screen and loot directly with him. What i found to be helpful is looting the quest stuff on the slave first, that way once i have the master looting i can see the sparkling effect from the items on the ground if it's one of those quests and if it's just a slain mob loot type quest i can just do it either way. Still annoying though haha.

You don't need to move to the slave screen to loot. You can set up Assist+Interact with Target and the slave will move to loot what you tell him to. Check from the bottom of this post (http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/36955-Newb-s-Guide-to-Multiboxing-Start-here-if-you-are-brand-new-to-Multiboxing?p=322299&viewfull=1#post322299) and into the next one.
I'm sure AOE looting in MoP will make gathering quest items soooo much easier, too.
