i thinking of upgrading this to a TI 560 with 2 gig memory

my current setup works good for 4 boxing but when i go 5 i get a bit of lag sometimes

or do i need to do a cpu/motherboard upgrade like the I7 2600k

however would my current card work well for that

thank you all for the help

When you view the Windows performance index, what does it say your weakest area is?

Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System > Check the Windows Experience Index

Wow is far more CPU dependent than Video.

But I'd go into Resource Monitor, and see what your bottleneck is.
Anything that gets close to 100%, is maxing your resources...
And with additional resources, would run smoother.

If you're using Windows 7.
Control + Shift + Escape.
Performance Tab.
Resource Monitor, near the bottom.

ok my score is 5.9
processor 7.1
Memory 7.1
graphics 7.4
gaming graphics 7.4
hard disk 5.9

I can give you a accrute reading on the resource part due to i don't have the software and games ready to go yet

Get yourself an Intel 6 Gbps 120 gig SSD drive. That will get all your ratings in the 7+ range. You can get them around $130 on Amazon.

You definately dont need a new graphics card, thats the best thing you have. After a new SSD hard drive I would try for 12 gig RAM.

WEI is fantastic for letting you know how great your system is going to Windows (for the most part). It's not a real benchmark of any sort and no benchmarking sites state how high of a score a CPU, GPU, SSD, etc achieves on the WEI.

You need to look at your Performance Monitor and GPU-Z when you are getting lag. You need to see if it's your CPU or your GPU that is the bottleneck (I'm going to say it's the CPU). If you're using DX11 then change it to DX9. The GTX 280 doesn't technically support DX11 and your VRAM will be better off in DX9. I doubt you're using anywhere near 8GB of RAM unless you're running a ton of shit in the background. I don't think I've ever hit 7GB of RAM usage while multiboxing 5 accounts and I run some fairly high graphics settings.

EDIT: To Add -- Could it be your HDD causing this lag? Sure, it could be. Everyone's definition of lag is different and you could just be experiencing textures loading slowly from the HDD if you've got a ton of crap on it or it hasn't been defrag'd. An SSD will not increase your FPS beyond what your computer is capable of. It will deliver the necessary information that the CPU and the GPU need to display what's on the screen. If the CPU and GPU are the bottleneck then the SSD will not deliver anything besides faster loading screens.

I understand i thinking my cpu is the bottle neck ATM just from reasoning with the diffent options

as for DX9 how do i switch it to DX 9 i read it somewhere can't recall as i try to read as much as i can before i ask and i think a SSD won't do me a whole lot of good unless i get a new card to bump it up to the 6gig deal as it stand my mother board only supports 300Mb

thank you

Swapping between versions of DX is done in your advanced video settings.

As for an SSD, you can buy a SATAIII model and have it work on a SATAII port at SATAII speeds until you eventually upgrade. Here are some numbers:

Any SSD on that list without the (6Gbps) tag is running at SATAII speeds. Compare that to the HDD in the list (hint: it's in last place). Doesn't really matter whether it's SATAII or SATAIII because it's light years faster than an HDD.

In World of Warcraft's Advanced Video Settings. WoW only runs in DX9 or DX11. DX10 is what your card supports, but it can emulate DX11 (not real DX11).

A quick look on Newegg shows that your drive might have a 3 year warranty. You might be able to get it fixed for free...

That's what this forum is for. I, and others, wouldn't have as many posts as we do if we had better things to do didn't want to help. ;)

EDIT: After I reread this, I felt that "had better things to do" were maybe the wrong choice of words so I changed it up.

Patriot has had very good support in the past.
I've not bought any of their products recently, but do really like them.

Before you start scratching your head to hard, know that the servers have had serious lag issues the past two weeks.

So if you are coming from the last couple days, keep this in mind. I would not consider right now an "Ideal" bench marking time.

Just an FYI before you go dumping tons of money on parts that will get replaced in a few months.

well i can't afford a whole lot but i tryin to save up for some stuff however i will get what i think i need i had this computer for a while only upgraded the memory and hard drive and OS and i really can't complain about it been a really great computer from systemmax

right now i know my issues are in my hard drive is the slowest thing i got running a sata2 300 mb transfer with 2 1tb hard drives raptors of course and the second thing is my CPU if i have to upgrade it then i have to get a motherboard and memory

before I can 4 box good i mean anywhere not much lag but when i add that fifth person then i get issues of lag its not like super bad and i can really deal with it

another thing too i thinking is i may have set up my ssd up wrong i only had my wow folder on it and not my os and wow folder i think it would have better with the os and wow folder on it at the same time

yea i know about the lag issues i been having them now with just one account i think blizzard is have issues on their end with the combine work of diable and wow together

thank you all for your support

Every expansion increases the requirements.
With MoP coming out soon, you can be fairly sure you'll run a little worse with the same system... but that the eye-candy will be a bit more.

If you're already smooth, or fairly smooth...
Great.

If the system is borderline, consider upgrades.

yea i understand that and i expect that as well i hoping to get back to work soon just right now my money is limited and i just seeing where or what i can do to improve my computer and where it would be best served

I really think i can 5 box with this with most all settings on low as i was able to before till i hit wg when it was the craze 40 vs 40 lol thats when i lag out most so i thinking if i do raids i goin to need to work on improving that part

I got a RMA from patroit so hopeful they will replace my drive

thank you all for support

I just want to give a big shout out to MiRai for telling me about the warranty on the SSD drive, after checking with Patriot they sent me a RMA and told me that they will send me another drive PT2128GS25SSDR(Torqx2) because they no longer make my current drive

Thank you again MiRai

and thank everyone else as well
