How viable is priest + hunters x 4 group in wotlk, and cata?

What caught my interest is pet being crit immune, and watching videos on youtube of hunter's pet tanking zuruk(stonecore boss). Pet are better now or still get crushed in heroic dungeons...

A pet will never out perform a deticated tank. You may be able to down stuff when you outgear it, but I don't see it being viable otherwise.

Maybe if you could rotate threat on all or some of the pets?

I think there were some posts about this from WoTLK, but I can't search for them on my phone.

I never worried about my hunter team trying to rotate threat and keep all the pets alive. Usually I just let them die, by the time the 5th pet dies the boss is down.
