View Full Version : PvP, I must not be doing it right

So I made a team of 4 shamans, and I just seem to be getting slaughtered.

Right now I'm at level 21, wearing 5 heirlooms each and using elemental spec, so one would think I'd be kicking butt.

How do the rest of you guys do it?

Thanks.

Lol, even at lvl 85 with full pvp gear you get destroyed by mages, rogues, locks and spriests. Ele shamans are in a bad state when it comes to survivability :)

totally agree against melee, but if you get destroyed as an ele vs a mage or a spriest you do something wring with a 5s shear & grounding

Talking strictly in numbers here :) 4 vs 1 aint much trouble.

At level 21, you're going to get bowled over. Hell up until level 60 (when you can queue up for AV), I'd avoid BGs like the plague.

Yup.

If you want to own low level bgs, you box hunters.

This is so true. I have 5 hunters <lvl 20. Round Robin Arcane AoE Silence from BElf Racial = win. 5 times Arcane shot = anything dead at that level... regardless of heirlooms. 5 times serpent sting = run off and die. Round Robin concussion shot = really pissed off people as you leave them standing in a trail of noobs behind you and run WSG flags.

At lower levels, most classes don't have their best abilities.
You don't really have enough of a mana pool; I found that, when boxing lower level warlocks.

If you're winning half or more of the games...
BG's become a method to level with.
But if you're not winning half or more of the games...
Then avoid the BG's, and level by another method.

Until you reach maximum level, and start to accumulate Honor and then Conquest gear...
PvP doesn't really count for much, beyond... is it fun?

i think its the actual boxer that rages. you may kill alot of people with 5 hunters, but you will get one shot farmed by rogues with ambush crits...lamesauce.

I disagree. I think to go along with the theme of this thread... if a character is getting one shotted by a rogue, then yes, you're doing it wrong... that or there is a decent level delta. And in that case, Id argue that any leather or clothie is gonna have the same result, regardless if its a boxer or a solo player.

Rogues attack me all the time. Target, and disengage, plus one toon concussive, two serpent sting, and two arcane shot all in one "special" key, (which Ive named RogueDead)... a simple two step mapped key I have set.

I love rogues because they think theyre safe... nope.

That's because hunters are the only real counter class for rogues. Whereas rogues are counter classes every other spec in the game.

At level 19, not much can stand against a very twinked rogue.
At level 29, the same can be said for the very twinked hunter.

PvP is semi-balanced, more so for Arena 3's/5's then solo or large scale PvP, for PvP play at maximum level.
The game is also balanced for 10-man and 25-man raid content.
Because they're balancing two aspects, its never going to be perfectly balanced in either aspect.
And because they're balancing end-game, things can be severely broken at lower levels... and be working as intended.

I still give the same advice.
If you're looking to level, and win half or more of your PvP battles, then PvP is a leveling tool.
If you're not winning even 50% of your battles, then another approach will be better.

Once you reach the level you want to play at.
See how you're doing...

A lot of people like the 70-74 bracket.
As a 70, you can run Arena against other level 70 characters.
You have access to Sunwell (PvE) gear and the last level of LV 70 PvP gear, which will cost you a weekend of PvP to acquire.
As with any twink bracket, you can turn off the experience and once geared forever have the best gear... no matter how many seasons go by.
This is probably the most populated twink bracket.
