It seems that day by day (or patch by patch?) performance gets worse. I can run around with normal FPS but once a fight starts its just slow motion. Once it was fast without any problems but now it is just getting worse every day and I dont think that it is my system. Besides setting everythign to very low in graphics section do you have any idea how I could improve performance?

Thanks,
Balrog

I don't have any solutions to the performance issue, however I noticed a significant performance hit after 1.2 went live. I'm open to the possibility that my performance issues right now are server side bc I'm on a popular server and ppl are playing more since 1.2 so it's lag related. Now that I think about it, that seems to make sense for the situation you described as well. Normal 60 fps until a real server demanding operation like fighting occurs.

There are a couple other performance related threads and I'm sure that they are easy to find which have good advice to increase fps, just put in performance into the search bar. I'd give you links, but I'm on my iPad right now.

I tried so much, checked many threads but I am at a point where I am thinking of quitting. I dont want to invest several hours or even days to compensate the flaws of this bad client :)

I've noticed a huge hit on performance on a moderately populated server. I did get rid of shadows and a few other non-essential graphics items and that helped a little, but before I never lagged in crowded areas (the fleet), but now I do like crazy. So I believe it is related to something on their end, not my PC. It could be a few more people since 1.2, but I can't believe that would make that much of a difference.

Wasn't it mentioned in previous threads that your settings might get reset after a patch to one value even though they're showing a different value (i.e. video settings are actually a higher value compared to what you were running prior to a patch -- assuming you didn't adjust them already)?

Perhaps clearing out your virtual files, re-exporting from ISBoxer, and then adjusting them as necessary may fix the issue. Just a random though since I don't actually play SW:TOR. This is also assuming you (everyone who tries this) have SW:TOR virtual files set up correctly in the first place.

There is a new graphics option to set number of visible players from very high to low. On low I am keeping fps >30 at the fleet with 100+. I am still noticing lag (not lowered fps) overall now even with just one account on low settings so it must be server side.

Malgor, yes, I also guess it is on their side. Maybe it is a network issue. I will try again when I can connect to a better network.
MiRai, thanks for the hints but I tried all of these :)

Playing 3 toons only is already slightly better.

I would usually say its the fault of my PC but with higher graphics settings in February the performance was much better.

I haven't noticed much of a performance hit since 1.2 ( though I have experienced a bit more follow breaks and a smaller follow range than the hugely generous one before 1.2).

Then again, I run two accounts on each of two computers, so that may help. Overall, not hard to four box at all since 1.2.

Ive just purchased a new i7 3930k and mobo so I'm gonna build a second comp out of spare parts and try true dual boxing with 4 toons and see how it goes. My "old" i5 2500k will power the second rig. I'm thinking that I'll be able to bring the graphic settings up a bit from all low.

Merc, is it very easy to switch to controlling a toon on the alt PC if the two on the main PC die?

So weird I swear my performance improved since 1.2 lol

Regarding performance this game is all about luck to have the right system setup. Some play with high graphics system with an old machine and some play on low level setting with a machine which can handle Witcher 2 on highest setting without any problems. When I started I was on the lucky side, now I am struggling with everything :(

Small patch today made it so all my video conversations in missions stutter. Strange. Then when I rebooted I blue screened, which has never happened before. I believe they have a memory leak or something.

Great news... :(

Meanwhile, I just installed my i7 3930k and now I can run laps around the fleet base with all settings on high for all 4 toons and the lowest fps I got was 25! I haven't even OC'd it yet.

Fleet base is not a problem for me either. The problems start whenever I start a fight and the skill abilities trigger some graphical effects. I have always one toon for which the FPS goes down to 5 FPS and funny thing is after some fights it stays at 5 FPS even if I close all other windows. For many fights I have to be cautious to hit my DPS key only 3-4 times / second instead of 10 times.

That really sucks balrog. I hope that it's just a temp problem so that you can start enjoying the game again. I'm really liking my team on Swiftsure right now. I think this is gonna be the team that I level to 50. Vanguard, x2 Commandoes, and a Sage. The Commandoes aren't much for healing, but they can take care of themselves and let the sage worry about the tank. Only thing I've got to do is optimize my rotation for long boss fights. That's my biggest problem right now... I can't figure out a rotation that uses the same energy/sec for every fight... seems kinda weired that they use diff amounts of energy every fight. I think they must be blowing cool downs... need to start using the combat log to figure things out.

It would be great to see you around on Swiftsure.

My problem may be temperature also. My computer shut down randomly today right in the middle of a H2. When I came back luckily I wasn't dead and just outside the instance with credit for what I had accomplished so far. Strange thing though was that all my default settings were reset to what they start at. So had to go and reset all those, and I'm sure I missed a few.

I'm not sure what my i7 660 should be running at, but when I turned it back on after the shut down, it was at 42-44 degrees Celsius. So, I took it all apart and all my fans seem to be working fine. I blew out the dust and opened up the side panel even though it has a huge fan in it anyway and left it partially ajar. Then turned the AC up to high and a couple exterior fans and I have it down to 31 Celsius. I downloaded a free program to monitor the core temperatures and called Core Temp 1.0 RC3 and it shows them all at around 36-41 degrees Celsius. It shows it will auto shut it down at 100 degrees.

What do normal temperatures run? I'm too savvy on that type of stuff.

On a positive note Wilma and Betti (new tag "Party Time" as their moniker) hit 45 today. I should get them to 46 or 47 tomorrow.

For long term reliability, 80 C is what you should max out at for 100% CPU load. 100 F is the danger limit for short periods only... don't let it go above 80 C for long periods of time.

Okay it never goes above 42 C but that is 107 F. It normally runs at 36 C (96.8 F) when I am running games, but stays at 31 C (87.8 F) when it's just idle. So I guess I'm okay.

He meant 100 Celcius is the point where damage to the CPU is likely to happen.

Okay great, seems I never go above 60 Celsius on all four cores when in game.

Then your CPU cooling is plenty adequate.
