So, I scrolled 5 more accounts last week with the intention to log in and get 'em going tonight after work. Oops. Blizz appears to have banned all 5 of the new accounts, despite not banning the 5 I have subbed at the moment. Something about exploitation of the economy. No idea how that could have happened as they only have a level 1 logged in on them. :p

Should be interesting to see how their process for this works as this is my first time having to deal with their phone people.

I am curious, just how does a lvl 1 toon exploit the economy? Maybe it is Newspeak for sending them too much gold, and it got flagged or something.

With 2 reported hacks on our guild in the last 30 days alone I wouldn't be surprised. That's why I have a nice computer for wow only and a gimp computer for most other needs. I spent my weekend wiping my computer regardless. Transplanted my old rig into a obsidian 650d and upgraded the CPU cooler while I was at it.

Just in case anyone is interested in how this goes (and to document for future efforts):

Hello. I am a multiboxer and I have 10 accounts: xxxxxxxx, then xxxxxxxx2 through xxxxxxxx10. 1-5, 7 and 9 are on xxxxx@xxxxxxxx and have the dial-up authenticator measure applied, 6, 8 and 10 are on xxxxxx@xxxxxxxx and have my Battle.net authenticator attached.

I received an email stating the 5 that I created via scroll of resurrection (xxxxxxxx6-10) were banned for exploitation of the economy. I would like to see those accounts restored to operational status so I can subscribe them and continue multiboxing. The 5 level 1 shaman characters I created on xxxxxx last week on accounts 6-10 were xxxxxxx, xxxxxxxx, etc.

If you check those accounts, the only characters that should have logged in would have been those 5 level 1 shamans on xxxxxxx. If there is any other activity (auction house, banks, etc.) anywhere outside of the Valley of Trials zone on those level 1 characters, please let me know as that would constitute a breach of security on the account and I would need to investigate whether the associated email accounts, etc. were compromised and take measures to protect the other 5 accounts as well.

Please do note that my 5 active accounts remain untouched, which leads me to believe that creating the 5 new accounts via SoR simply ran afoul of some automated suspicious activity check.

I look forward to speaking with you and to getting these accounts released to resume normal play. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Also, I would also like to note here that if the resolution of this matter carries those 5 accounts past the initial 7-day eligibility date for these level 1 shamans to accept and take advantage of the Scroll of Resurrection perks (level 80 and server transfer to Magtheridon with my 5 druids I've been playing) then I will need assistance extending that eligibility period so I am not penalized through no fault of my own.

By now pretty much everyone has an android/Iphone or blackberry and you can get a Bnet authenticator on those phones. If you don't have one you can get the keychain version very cheap.

Get the authenticator, yes its annoying if you play on a laptop and are constantly moving (I am and I have to reset my password once a month because of it) and yes its annoying boxing that you gotta log one toon in with the authenticator, hit esc and log the other 1-9 in a few seconds later, but you can't get hacked unless they have physical access to your computer in a location that you already entered your bnet code for that week.

As long as you go with out the authenticator you run the risk of being hacked. Don't let the hackers win, get the authenticator.

Judging by his ticket e-mail, Ugh already has an authenticator on both battle.net accounts. My guess is that he got caught up in a anti-gold-spammer automated banning accidentally.

Sorry I should have quoted Jack's post when I did this. I know of two people in the Zerg who have been hacked this month and that was what I was refering to.

For this poster yes he got mistaken for a gold seller and that sucks but they will probably unban him after he talks to them.

wow, impressive. Perhaps Blizz CS isnt as FAIL as I thought. Im glad you had a better experience than I did. Granted im all set now, but still. I wasnt banned for it.

And note that i just got this account back from being banned for loging on in to many places at one day. 5 days after i get it back and finally log in, i get hacked.

TL:DR Banned acct took auth off for main got account back paid sub 3 days later got hacked GG. Still cant access account after restoration.

I miss Call of Duty...noone hacked me there.

DOH!! thats unfortunate. However please note that if at one time you had a keylogger, and or at one time had your accounts compromised, there is software that enables people to scan lists of accounts and passwords and run algorithms to rotate passwords. Im sure there must be some people or "companies" who do this daily given the low cost of laptop computers now a days.

just a general statement to anyone.. If your account becomes compromised, restart your machine in safe mode with networking, and run a full virus scan. change your password on your accounts, (obviously), use an authenticator, and if an individual wants to go the extra step, change your email address linked to the account.

Dude, seriously, that sucks about your TF. But Blizz should be able to give that back. GL getting your stuff back soon.
