Hi all,
first post, just had a quick question for the more informed isboxer or melee boxers out their.
Currently, in the expansion MoP hunters have their melee weapons removed and only have ranged weapons, it was done like this so blizzard could get rid of their deadzone.
So hunters have NO DEADZONE now.
if there is no dead zone, would it be possible to IWT spam like with a melee team? say, have five hunters running through their target spamming arcane shot? or even steadyshot with aspect of the fox? if there is no dead zone i dont see why this wouldn't work unless i'm missing something?
i realise with focus they wouldn't be the greatest for IWT spam but just thought it would be interesting.
Thoughts?

Get beta invite, make a hunter, target a dummy, spam iwt. If it works with 1, it will work with 5...

I believe it was to remove the itemization slot from all the classes like blizzard said. What deadzone to you see with hunters right that that concerns you? Also if you IWT, yes you will run up to it, but then what? shoot at point blank. Why don't you shoot at range?

I haven't had enough coffee yet, but I'm not really sure how removing deadzone/weapons would force hunters to run into melee range, as ranged will now be their only form of attack.
The issue with hunters and IWT vs any other class and IWT is that every other classes' default autoattack is a melee attack. As it stands right now, a hunter will only run toward a live, hostile target if the hunter is out of range for shooting, and even then, they will only run up as close as they need to in order to shoot.
Removal of the deadzone only means a hunter can stand right on top of a target and still shoot it. The removal of melee weapons only further cements the idea that hunters don't attack with melee and will only IWT as far as max autoshot range.
Keep in mind, IWT and CtM are designed for assisting single boxers, not multiboxers. A person playing a solo hunter isn't generally interested in running up in to melee range. Unless Blizzard changes a hunter's Autoattack to a melee attack of some sort, IWT is still going to work the same way as it does currently. I think the best we can hope for is that they fix hunter's IWT so that they can actually turn around to face a target when their facing is more than 90° off and they are in range.

I guess this all depends on how they've modified all range.
If they make it so there is no separation between a melee attack and a range (wand/bow/etc) attack then range should all work the same with IWT/CTM. That is, run close enough to cast an ability and then stop to cast.

yeah i jsut thought it was interesting. As now the deadzone with if anyone gets in melee range i cant fire off any abilities. If the deadzone is completely removed and if someone gets in close and say, disengage and all escape options are out, i could just spam IWT on an ability like arcane shot and have my hunters run through malee's like my DK team does.
It would mean that instead of warriors etc running through me and messing up my slaves targeting i could counter it in some form even if its but arcane shot spam or the like. Of course your still going to be doing all your attacks from range, i was just suggesting it might be cool to also be able to IWT spam in a tight spot when facing a melee so he doesnt run through your team endlessly and mess you up.
you could trap, IWT then stop and have them all run out of the traps like headless chickens then after they get out spam IWT and they would turn back around and start spamming arcane shots from a distance as they run back towards their target.
would be a different way to use IWT as you could let them headless chicken and use it to your advantage.
would be cool if someone tested it

I'm thinking they won't do that.
The reason melee run through targets is down to range of their attacks which means if they are off only slightly, the IWT command is processed again and they are now behind the target.
Ranged attacks will work as it does on hunters now but without the melee range deadzone. They'll run as close to the target as need be for their interactions to work and then any further IWT is nullified by being in range for ____ interaction. Obviously merchants require melee range but the program already knows that.

ah I see so it wouldnt work regardless.
shame Hunter's look like they got given alot of burst cooldown abilities. Stampede, murder of crows, + BM spec with 5 of them doing it will be alot of damage and pets everywhere lol
but if they cant fix the trouble of close quarters then.....
anyway hope my beta invite comes soon so I can see what they are like and so i can test whether or not monk's will be good for boxing

Or you could add a DK and/or warrior to the hunter mix. That's what I'm doing currently. The idea is to death grip the first melee who decides to hump your range. Or charge and fear him off. That is if disengage is down and you don't have an ice trap.
