Ok to start off, I run all 5 my clients full screen. I have it set up with 5 regions so they are all full screen. I hit my pip hotkey and they switch from client to client while fullscreen and most time this works perfect but say 2/5 times it will not switch instead the wow titlebar at the bottom starts flashing but does not switch to it. Anyone know why this is or how I might fix this? thanks in advance.

it could be your system resources are a bit taxed and it is unable to complete the swap.

essentially, when you swap, the wow engines start to fight each other as one struggles to increase what it's rendering while the other could still be rendering at the high res. there would be a momentary overlap of rendering needs that could spike it beyond your system's capability.

of course, this is speculation and depends on your setup

It's computer lag. Your HD might be trying to work to hard. What are your comp specs?

Ok thanks,

Here is my setup

AMD PHENOM 9500
4 gig pc2 8500 high performance memory
geforce 8800 GTS Graphics card
SATA 300 HDD 500GB 32mb buffer

Thats the jist of what I am running. If i run it without the maximizer running I can switch between clients instantly by just clicking on the tabs at the bottom. It runs super fast that way, I just wish PIP could swap that fast. Any more ideas? Thanks in advance.

Do you have any affinity settings setup?

If you pull up your task manager and click on performance tab what does it show you for CPU utilization? (Right click windows taskbar, task manager)

I have a dual core x2 6000+ and 4gb of ram and run without any problems on PIP, it's a bit laggy at times, but it always makes the swap... I think I heard that if you dont SET affinity on quad core systems WoW only uses the first 2...

PiP is a bit different then alt-tab, because with alt-tab, the wow client doesn't change anything. with PiP, the wow graohics engine needs to step up and start producing graphics for a significantly larger area.

Keyclone, is that true even if he has 5 overlapped regions that are the same size, the only reason he's using PIP at all is to bring the desired client to focus. (This was the idea I suggested to you originally because I wanted to do the same thing, just hotkeys bound to clients... don't get me wrong, PiP is the bomb and I love it, but what he's suggesting should be less stress ont he pc)

Yea this is exactly what I want to do, I just want to be able to hit a hotkey and swap over to my other toon just like alt tabbing. It alt tabs instantly and it would be great option to be able to do that with a hotkey.

BTW , I am trying cpu affinit now to see how that works. I left my fifth client to no affinity and set my other 4 to a cpu 0,1,2,3. So I will let you know how that goes. As for PIP, i stopped using it because its just much faster at this time for me to alt-tab or just click on the corresponding tab at the bottom. Im sure if I was using split screens PIP would be much better but not ideal for my setup. I will let you know how it goes with the cpu affinity.

hmm... maybe check the registry for foregroundLockTimeout and foregroundFlashCount and see what they are set to.

for minimal impact, set foregroundLockTimeout to 0 and foregroundFlashCount to 1

OK using CPU affinity for me didnt work to well, seemed like it cause some freezing and some major hiccups. Anyone else try this with 5 clients on a quad core? Anyway I went back to no cpu affinity and its running great.

foregroundFlashCount was set to 3, so I changed it to 1 like you said, the other was already 0 so I left it alone. Im going to go try it out now. Thanks allot
