Required : 350+ Jewelcrafter w/ Braided Eternium Chain recipe, 275+ Enchanter, starting capital (recommend 400-500g)

Strategy is to purchase items off the AH, craft items, and sell for a profit.

First! you need to do some simple math to determine if this is profitable or not on your server's economy. Here is the prices on my server, do some research and fill in with your own numbers.

Second! you need to *not* flood the AH. Don't list 10 of the same blue gem up at once... I list 2-3 max at a time.

Third! patience is the key. You might get stuck with multiple Talasites in a row. But keep going and you'll get those higher priced gems.

Consumed materials:
Adamantite Ore average 1.25g per
Primal Earth average 2.5g per
Eternium Bar average 1.5g per
(It is often cheaper to buy motes of earth and eternium ore than primals/bars.)

Produced materials:
Blue gems average 30g per (uncut)
Green gems average 1g per (uncut)
large prismatic shards average 23g per

You will use the raw materials in the following ratio, 2 eternium bar : 3 primal earth : 60 adamantite ore, so we use this as 1 industry "unit" to determine our cost and profit. We will prospect the ore, then use the adamantite powder & primal earth to make Mercurial Adamantite, and that along with eternium bar to craft Braided Eternium Chain. Finally, disenchant it into a large prismatic shard (you can also sell some for more than a LBS on average, but it's a tiny market). The final product is 1 large brilliant shard, along with on average 2.4 blue gems and 13 green gems.

Now, the costs and profit:

60 adamantite = 75g
3 primal earth = 7.5g
2 eternium bar = 3g

Our cost per unit is 85.5g

1 large prismatic shard = 23g
2.4 blue gems = 72g
13 green gems = 13g

Our revenue per unit is 108g, so we make a profit of 22.5g per unit less the AH fee, it averages around a 25% return. Your profits will be significantly higher if you have the in-demand blue / green gem cuts.

Crafting time is approximately 45 seconds per unit, along with however long it takes you to deal with the AH, mailbox, travel time, etc. I spend about 3 minutes per on average, I mostly do crafting while I'm AFK doing other stuff.

tl;dr summary - easy make 4-500g+ an hour depending on your server economy, without ever stepping foot out of the city.

Thats an awful lot of buying, selling, relisting, math and crafting to make the same that you can make by just mining two rich nodes.

Yes but rich nodes don't just show up in the major city of your choice to pick up at your leisure :) If you have the time to go out and mine the profit obviously is even bigger.

You could mine for 1 hr get about 5-6 stacks of Ore (I have a path I follow) the prospect it and sell raw gems. Thats bank right there.

His start is pretty good, the whole point behind it is there is no farming just buy this> make this > De/Post auctions and bam done free $$.

I think the OP means Large Prismatic Shard.

Yes thank you Biz, LPS not LBS (I'll update).

Mining an hour for 6 stacks of Adamantite ore, prospect & sell the gems = about 170g profit on my server.

- or -

Spend 5 mins in town to buy 6 stacks of ore & the other stuff, follow this guide = 45g profit on my server. Spend that hour you spent mining, and make 500g+ instead.

But you are market-capped on exactly how much blue/green gems and LPS you can push through in a day, so it's even smarter to take a little while to load up the AH, then head out and do some gathering, daily quest, etc. Personally I find flying around in circles boring as hell so I only gather stuff in instances or if I find it on my way to somewhere, pretty much.

just a forewarning..might not want to depend on this for an income or store up too many mats for it since the market will have a lot more lps inc (if not flooded with them) since voids can be changed to lps in 2.4 (1 void = 2 lps btw)

Ya that change is the lamezor. I enjoy farming SV/Botanica for easy shards couple 100g an hour easy.

Yeah, LPS price will definitely plummet, not sure if it will recover some time after 2.4 or not. There will be a surge as people burn up stockpiles of void crystals, but also a lot of new gear is coming that will need enchants.

Another thing to keep in mind is the 2.4 recipe to create a blue gem, from 3 of each green gem. This will definitely have an impact on the gem price market.

At any rate, supply and demand as usual... maybe the materials will go down as well so that it's still profitable. If not, something else will be. :)

Factor in costs of training the tradeskills. Base training, recepies, and sellable rep items. If you're getting more out of the tradeskills then it might be worth it but it isn't if making money is your only objective.

also for those of you that havent gone to test yet... the aldor and scryer rep drop thingies (signets and marks) drop from a lot of the mobs there, so if youre holding onto them to sell sell them soon as can

Leveling JC was not that expensive, around 5-600G loss after selling / DEing everything.
