DVD Drive not working...

I put a DvD into my computer drive, closed the drive, and nothing happened.
I opened and closed the drive again, and still nothing.

Checking in Device Manager, my DVD is not listed.
I'm not sure when I last watched a DvD on the computer, but know I have done so in the past.
But at some point, the DvD has disappeared from the system.

Going to the Samsung website, I cannot find a place to download drivers.
The only available download for my device (Samsung S243D/BEBE 24x DVDRW SATA OEM) is the user manual.

Windows Update thinks it has everything my system needs.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?




Windows 7, Home Premium 64-bit.

I had the same type of thing happen 2 months back. I did most of the same stuff you described....no luck. Then disconnected and reconnected the SATA cable and everything worked.

May or may not work for you, but maybe worth a shot.
