Hi i got 2 more accounts tonight, for some reason it's really hard on my computer, i'd like to know the configuration of ppl running 4 accounts on 1 cpu...

I5-2500K
HD6870
16 GB 1666MHz
SSD 500 GB

I know its not the video card, the load lvl is 60%
processor seems good too
i'm really wondering why there is lag

I just built a new rig also and had hoped it would pull my 4 accounts but found that the load on my graphics card was just to much. I was getting 20-25 fps if I was very lucky but it would drop down to about 10 or less many times. The nvidia 580 card was running very hot and GPU usage was sitting at 100%. I have 16gb of memory, a 160gb ssd, 1tb hd drive, I7 2600, Asus p8p67 mb, a FIOS connect to the internet with very low latency, etc. You would think the system would be able to pull 4 accounts but it seemed just too much for my system. So I just cranked the graphics settings to all low, turned off shadows, AA and bloom, and it runs fine now. To tell the truth the lower video quality doesn't bother me that much. In a single character setting I can turn everything up (I always turn off AA) and get really great fps, normally in the 80+fps second range).

IMO BioWare has some issues with their graphics implementation and their forums would tend to support that more than just a few people are unhappy with in-game fps. Of course most of those are just folks playing a single character and a lot of them are probably older systems, but many like yourself are new computers that are struggling with performance.

My consideration was whether it was worth it to buy a second video card and run an SLI config. I have a 2 monitor setup with 24 and 22 in monitors. It doesn't appear that drivers know how to support SWTOR with an SLI config (as I understand it it is the nvidia drivers that make this magic work, not the game), but still wondered if setting up a non-SLI config with a separate card for each monitor would help. Sort of hate to drop another $450 to add a second card only to find it didn't do anything. Particularly just to multi-box this game. Anyone else have experience in going from a single to a two card config and what were your results.

Sorry, Atwaa, not trying to hi-jack your thread but it did seem somewhat related question.

Have you tried all the standard stuff? Update your drivers, tune your in-game settings, clean up your registry/processes, etc.

If none of that works; your CPU, RAM and storage are all fine (assuming your MOBO is of similar speeds). However, I think 4 clients might tax a single 6870. There's obviously a huge difference between running 2 clients and 4. You could pick up a second 6870 (they're fairly cheap now, around $160 in Australia), run them in xfire and the game should run fine.

Load up your team.

CTRL+ALT+DEL and choose "Task Manager" click on tab labeled "Performance" Observe cores while all 4 are running.

Close all Windows.

then go to ISBoxer, locate the window layout section, bottom right hand panel, uncheck the box that says something like "Instant window swapping" (im not at home at the moment).. save, export, and load up team.

Observe cores while running all 4, (3 in the background, 1 in front). should be fine.

Or. Turn down your graphics.

Or. Adjust your foreground and background FPS to something lower. like 45 / 20.

I thought someone posted on here someplace that "force windows to believe they are foreground" had to be checked for something else to work... did I dream that? Even my 2-box team chugs along on my i7 system with 8G ram. Anything I can do to improve that, I will try :)

It was the case when everything was new. Its NOT the case now. There were several patches done to help this. You do NOT need this to operate ISBoxer with multiple windows.

Ill go find the link...

Did you guys make sure the "Make game believe it is foreground window" option is enabled in your Character Set?

Also if anyone is sending a keystroke to the other windows that includes a modifier like Alt, Shift or Ctrl, you may need to enable the Hold option on your Mapped Key. Sadly SWTOR is one of those games that checks the modifier state asynchronously after the fact, instead of checking whether the modifier was held when you pressed the key -- by enabling Hold, you ensure that Alt (or whatever modifier) is held down until you let go.

Keep the questions etc coming :)

And I think I misquoted the first part. You want to turn OFF instant swapping. Not the foreground and back ground. sorry. Im going to edit my original post there.

this is what I was looking for

Inner Space build 5510 fixes another issue with SWTOR resolutions. Apps, you may have been running into this issue. This build could potentially fix it. (If swapping is not Instant -- shows loading screen -- and you have the Instant Swapping box checked, it is a bug.)

I have a similar setup, but x2 6850s and only 8 gigs of ram. I had a similar problem, but then I used the fix that msog2 suggests in the following post:

http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/46326-FIX-for-post-patch-FPS-issues?p=353859#post353859

Everything is great now! Once again thanks to msog2

this fix helped me, and i sometimes have to do it again. http://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/46476-Found-a-FPS-Fix

Riiker are you getting any thing from the GPU on the second 6850?

In my Rig 4 monitors at 1920X1080 on a 6970 and no swapping.
The single 6970 was very busy, I added a second 6970.

When I look at the proccessing with afterburner it shows the GPU1 at 100% and GPU2 at 0%.
I have tried two different configurations:
a. all 4 monitors on the First 6970 with Crossfire on.
b. two monitors on each 6970 with Crossfire off.
In both cases GPU2 is not doing any of the processing.

Is the problem because I added the 6970 after I setup the ISboxer characters, do I need to change something in Isboxer?

Other programs are loading the GPU2 so its not the board itself.
I have tried Catalyst 12.1 and 12.2 beta.

Any idea's how to get the second GPU to takeover some of the work load.
With all the setting turned down it is playable utilizing a single GPU but it would be better if I could get the second one to do something.

I went looking and found the answer to my questions about using multiple display adaptors.

Crossfire and SLI do not utilize the second GPU unless the Game is in full screen mode.
ISBoxer requires the game be in windowed mode, and as a result for boxing the Second GPU is idle :(.

In a multiple Display adaptor system without CF/SLI only the first GPU is utilized.

This has something to do with dragging items across monitors all the data must bein one GPU’s memory.
The second Display adaptor is only used to output data to the connector, so again the second GPU is idle
:(.
If you wantto check it out for yourself fire up MSI Afterburner, it’s free. Afterburner will display the GPU utilizations of each GPU.

I did setup a single 3840 X 2160 Display with CF and Eyefinity.
SWTOR looks cool on a giant display, the bezels are abit distracting, Very immersive :)

To tell you the truth... I haven't checked at all. I have only 2 monitors set up with crossfire off. I'll check the next time I get on to see if I'm having the same issue. Which based on your last post looks like it will be the case.

Despite whatever the results of that are, I am still able to get 30+ FPS on my main and ~20 FPS on the the two alts on the second screen... so its very playable. In fact, I'm adding a forth account just as soon as I get my 16g of ram in the mail.
