Which graphics card do you think? I mostly 5 Box WOW - but play other games Skyrim etc.

Is the 6990 still worth considering?

Any of those cards will serve you just fine. I usually hit Anandtech or Tomshardware for initial looks and check out what requirements are for power and what noise/heat levels are. A good quick check on http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU12/372 also is helpful. All 3 cards are spendy, and after looking at reviews you may end up choosing something a bit less top of the line to save a few bucks. I 5 box with a 5770 (lolol) and with settings low on slaves everything seems okay for the most part.

i'm currently using a GTX480 and ATI4870 - and for most things they are fine - though I noticed in AV during heavy 30v30 fights my slaves were not smooth.

I don't like to use the lowest settings because i like to maintain my viewing pleasure when I switch:) and also must make sure I can see spells to their fullest! Whenever I cast 5 x holy nova simultaneously with 5 x desperation - I see lag. :)

I've got both gtx580 3GB and a 6990 at home. For wow the GTX580 3gb version is much better, I have the Palit version and it's quite loud... go with Gainward or something.

You'll have to wait a while to get a 7970 therefore I'd go with gtx580 instead. Ati cards in general are quite loud, I've got aftermarket cooling on my 6990, otherwise I would not be able to be in the same room with my computer.

Edit: the reason I switced from a 580 to a 6990 is because I upgraded to 4 monitors and I prefer eyefinity instead of the nvidia surround. In either case a new card was required since 580 only supports 2 monitors.

What do you wait a while for 7970? Seems to be stock enough http://www.overclockers.co.uk/search_results.php?sortby=&groupid=&search=7970

not sure which brand i'd go with though.

I've got the 6990 and TBH i would've not went for it cause of the SLI/Crossfire thingy.
Mirai told me so but was thinking it would be good, and I would trade it for a single now :p

Greetingz!

EDIT: what im also experiencing is that i cannot play wow and play youtube, however i have no idea it has something to do with the GPX or it might be something wrong setup.

My 2c is GTX 580 3GB. Always go for a single rather than dual GPU card for multiboxing and generally Nvidia cards do better in WoW than ATI. I haven't actually read any comparos between the 7970 and 580 for general stuff but given the 580 is also the cheaper option I would definitely look at that.

From what I've read, the 7970 is faster than the 580, but also more expensive.
Don't get the 6990, since it's a "dual chip" card, as mentioned in the previous post, which causes problems for us.

There is a 6GB version of the 7970 coming out (soon hopefully) that I'm waiting for. And the 7970s smash GTX580s, which should be expected since the 7970s are a generation ahead of the GTX580s.

GRAM is good, especially for high resolution.

7970 beats 580 GTX by like 30+%. Retailed at $550-599 (almost the same as 580 GTX 3GB). hell yes 7970
