Probably a stupid question

I know this is off topic and if I placed it in the wrong forum please move it to the correct one. How do people quote other users. When I use the /quote brackets it does not reference the person who said it or put a link to the original post. What am I missing?

Use the "Reply with Quote" button under the post you want to quote. ^
