There is a huge amount of people building quadcopters. Do some searching on youtube and you'll find some really awesome videos where people mount a camera on their copter and fly around. The ones in this video are pretty small in comparison to the larger ones. One of our local hackerspace members built one and has done some cool stuff with his. Mainly completely fabricating as much as he could out of plastic he printed on his prusa.
