SET TARGET SYSTEM VERSION 2
The new version allows you to switch to any character and instantly have that character be your new Lead. All you need to do is define the Target keys, using a simple Set Target System, for all your characters beforehand. This happens ingame and from any window you want; in 5-10 seconds.
I have provided tinypaste links to the keys you will need for this. All you need to do is change a few Hotkeys and Keystrokes and make sure that you are using the default targeting keys in Star Wars: The Old Republic (F2-F5).
TinyPaste Links
Set Target (Key Map)

Assist & Follow Keys (Key Map)

Loadkey (Mapped Key):

How to use the Set Target System
Open the tinypaste links, right-click and choose Select All and then copy (Ctrl+C or right-click and choose Copy).
Then in ISBoxer right-click on Key Maps and choose 'Paste Key Map from Clipboard'. Do this for both the 'Set Target' and 'Assist & Follow Keys' Key Maps. Also copy the Loadkey and put it inside any Key Map of your choice. I recommend the Always On Key Map if you have it (so that it never gets disabled).
Now you want to change the Hotkeys for the Mapped Keys inside the 'Set Target' Key Map. You can choose whatever Hotkeys you like. My suggestion is to use the same key for each slot using a modifier for the second key.
http://i41.tinypic.com/r9g8b5.jpg
Click on your "Assist & Follow Keys" Key Map. Set the same Hotkey for all the Follow keys.
Go into each Assist key and change the keystroke to match your ingame keybind for "Aquire Target's Target". Do the same for the Follow key, but use your ingame keybind for "Follow Target" rather than "Aquire Target's Target".
http://i39.tinypic.com/xftc0l.jpg
Now go to your Character Set and at the bottom of the General tab you will find 'Perform this Mapped Key when Character Set is loaded or reloaded'. Click on this, choose Window:Current as Target and then choose the Loadkey (from whatever Key Map you put it in).
http://i42.tinypic.com/29ymwbb.jpg
Now it's time for us to create our Variable Keystrokes, that we will be using in our Assist and Follow keys.
Go to Variable Keystrokes and then right-click on Variable Keystrokes in the window below and choose 'New Variable Keystroke'. Do this three times and name them Target Slot 1, Target Slot 2 and Target Slot 3.
http://i41.tinypic.com/11scx3s.jpg
Alright, you are now good to go.
When you load up your Character Set ingame, use your Set Target keys to define each character as a lead. Start with the Set Target Slot 1 keys to make Character Slot 2 &3 target Character Slot 1. Then use the Set Target Slot 2 keys to make Character Slot 1 & 3 target Character Slot 2. And finally use the Set Target Slot 3 keys to make Character Slot 1 & 2 target Character Slot 3.
Once that is done you can now go ahead and use your Assist & Follow keys with any character. If you switch from Character Slot 1 to Character Slot 2 for example, Character Slot 1 & 3 will now Assist & Follow Slot 2.
Use the Assist keys by placing them all into your DPS Rotation keys. If you use one Key Map for each of your characters and have Hotkeyed the DPS Rotation keys for all of them to the same key, I recommend just putting the Assist keys in one of them to avoid potential issues.
Simple, easy and quick to use.

Please leave a comment if you have any questions. I would also love to hear some feedback if you end up using this, let me know how it works out for you.

Your guide looks good. The only problem I see is that your Using (Target Party 4) in game that hot key does not actually target party 4. What it does do is absolutely nothing. I was stumped on this myself. Here is chart I made a while back that I reference from.

I actually noticed this too (I asked about it a week ago in the thread for my other Guide). But since no one answered my question regarding the matter and since I found no tangible information; I decided to put it in anyway. It really doesn't present a problem anyway as it doesn't affect the system at all, other than potentially have taken up a few seconds more of my time when creating it.

HI,
it is a bit more complex than this schematic, because SLOT = PARTY-SLOT (or OPERATION SLOT) top down NOT Slot in ISBoxer.
I haven't figured out how the sorting works.
characters in my party sort always like this, no matter who invites... if 3) leaves, 4) moves to place 3) and if Nox comes back,Septic moves to place 4 again.
1) Flood (isboxer slot 2)
2) Virulen (ixboxer slot 4)
3) Noxious (isboxer slot 5)
4) Septic (isboxer slot 6)
(my isboxer slot 1 is dxnothing :)
it is a bit doing my head in, because when I invite another player, everything is scrambled.
I am working on a flexible FTL-like system to assign these ...

Are you talking about the Loadkey? If so; make sure that you aren't trying to paste it as a Key Map. Instead, go into any Key Map of your choice and right-click on 'Mapped Keys' and choose 'Paste Mapped Key from Clipboard'. I recommend the "Always On" keymap if you have it (from using the Quick Setup Wizard).
None of the above

Sorry about missing video. That update was for "version 1" of the Set Target System, so I removed it when I updated it to "version 2" since it's different in how it's used. Version 2 is for dual- and triple-boxers and as a result uses two to three keys in total, whereas "version 1" only used one key. Original version also didn't support instant Lead switching, which the new version does.
Unfortunately I haven't made a video for Version 2 as of yet.

Chazz, I could use some assistance if you could please. I tried to follow your directions and did fine until I got to the part about setting up my DPS keys. So my 3 character window switching and follow seems to work fine. I am setting up a single keymap for my DPS map keys and at this point am looking for just a single mapped key which would allow me to hit a single key and get an attack sequence to occur (I know how to stack them based upon longest GCD). The problem is I can't figure out how to make the assist work. You mentioned in your instructions "Use the Assist keys by placing them all into your DPS Rotation keys." I guess that is the part that lost me. I have tried multiple things and can't seem to make it work. Am I supposed to assign a keystroke to the Assist Slot 1-3 mapped keys (same or different keystroke) and then call that/those keystroke(s) in the DPS mapped key? I am sure this is just something stupid I am doing or not seeing. I have never used the variable keystroke function before (although it looks really nice from what I can understand and seems to work great for character follow and window swapping). Any suggestions or maybe an example XML file would be great.
Thanks for all of your work in writing up instructions and helping the SWTOR and ISBoxer community.

I'm not chazz, but maybe I can help.
In my setup, I have an "Assist Me" keymap. Then I make a keymap for DPS, the first thing I do is call that Assist Me keymap (under actions, add one that is Key Map Action->Do New Mapped Key Action and select your "Assist Me" keymap
So for instance, if you are working on "character1". You would end up with "do assist me in character1 keymap->self" as the action.
Don't know if that helps or not...
I am also having a problem with my DPS key, but it's a different problem. I stacked 5 attacks with the longest GCD first, and shortest GCD last. When I call the key ingame, it keeps casting the same one over and over (the shortest one) even though the cooldown is not up on the others. I put each attack as a separate action in one step. Should I have made each one a different step instead?

laguy442:
Right-click on Actions and choose Key Map Actions, New Do Mapped Key Action and choose the Assist keys. Here's an example from a Key Map I just set up for a new Commando team (for this team I use one Key Map for all of them, but wether you do that or not doesn't matter).
http://i41.tinypic.com/154uiro.jpg
You also want to go into each Assist key and in the second step change the keystroke being sent to the keybind you use ingame for "Acquire Target's Target", if you haven't already.
Hope that helps!
OldRod_KS:
Sounds odd. With my Commando team that I just quickly set up I did the same thing, by placing Sticky Grenade for example as the first action (after the assist keys) and then Hammer Shot beneath, and Sticky Grenade is always the first ability to go off.

In the instructions I can only see instructions for Slots 1, 2 and 3. What happens if you join a Warzone and one of your characters gets put in slot 4?

The Slots referred to are the slots in your Character Set in ISBoxer, not the Party Member Slots in the actual game.

I just realized what I was asking. 4th slot would always be "target self"! :P
Has anyone tested this system with 3 toons in Warzones yet? And what are the chances of having an ISBoxer "Wizard" set up for novices like myself. I've tried a couple of times to set this up, but I can't get it to work.

Is it posible that some instructions are missing? I am not very strong in my ISBoxer skills, but I love the software. I love SWTOR too! However, since I am pretty much a noob in this, I could use more of a step-by-step instruction set.
Here are a few questions:
1. Do we need to drag the character set into the new key maps?
This might seem obvious to you, but it is not as obvious to me. I only know about dragging it down into that area from other instructions. I am not complaining - your instructions are by far the best I have seen so far.
2. Is it okay (it seems to be - just verifying) that I changed the inner workings of the "Assist & Follow Keys" such that;
a. "ctrl+a" is the hotkey for all three for assist and "f" is what I use to target my target's target ("ctrl+a" is what i prefer if manually calling for an assist and "f" is what I reconfigured SWTOR for target-target's-target.
b. "ctrl+f" is the hotkey for all three for follow and "alt+f" is what I use to follow ("ctrl+f" is what i prefer to use to get everyone to follow the main character and "alt+f" is what I reconfigured SWTOR for following.
c. I reconfigured "Set Target" with END, Pg-up & Pg-dn (ctrl is my modifier) <-just verifying that it should still work properly?
3. MOST IMPORTANT: Are we supposed to configure "Target Slot 1", "Target Slot 2" & "Target Slot 3"?
As I already mentioned, I am a noob, so please advise me without assuming I know how to do anything on my own.
4. Last question: What is the best method for mapping my other keys?
I prefer to use the "Many New Mapped Keys" feature for 1-0, -, = and all the Number pad keys.
a. "Target for Keystrokes" should be "All w/ Current" or "Window: Current"? I assume all with current
b. Can I still use "Do This First" to have all my characters "assist" for all my shared keys?
1.) Target = "Window: Current"?
2.) Key Map = "Assist & Follow Keys"?
3.) Then ??? "Assist Slot 1"? (there are six options; Assist Slot 1-3 and Follow 1-3)
Note: Normally I would want to have my own assist command "F2 then F", but that seems counter to what you have established in the variable method(s).
Final Note: I asked about everything except the "Load Key," but I understood it well enough and had no trouble configuring that.
Please accept my humble thanks. I assume that there is a great deal of time and effort in making guides, videos and then even more time and energy in responding to questions. I did my best to follow the instructions. Would you please assist me a little further?
Thanks!

I will try to answer your questions.
1. Yes. You need to add the Key Maps to your Character Set, otherwise that Character Set will not use those Key Maps.
2. It's absolutely fine to change any hotkeys or keystrokes inside any key to whatever you want. As a general rule of thumb however; don't use any modifiers (Ctrl, Shift or Alt) with your ingame keybinds. This can cause problems in ISBoxer.
3. No. You just have to create the Variable Keystrokes, but you don't have to configure them in any way. That's what the Set Target keys does ingame.
4. I haven't used the "Many New Mapped Keys" feature myself, so I can't say anything about it for certain. But if you want to embed the assist keys into your DPS Rotation key(s) then you will want to use all the assist keys before any ability keys, so I'm not sure if it will work with the "Do This First" feature.
Regarding Target Window it depends on what you are wanting to do. If you are using another Mapped Key inside a Mapped Key then you want "Window: Current". This goes for the Assist keys for example.
You can use the Assist keys on their own, instead of having them embedded into a DPS Rotation key, if you want. Just skip putting them into the DPS Rotation key(s) and instead create a new mapped key where you call all of the assist keys (Window: Current, Assist & Follow Keys, Assist Slot 1-3). Hotkey this in ISBoxer to whatever key you prefer and use that to manually trigger assist whenever you want.

Yes.
I would also recommend assigning default values to the Variable Keystrokes for Target Slot 1 & 2 (I believe it would be F2), so that when you're just grouping with your own two characters you don't have to assign these values ingame using Set Target (assist & follow just works 'automatically' then).

So I can go ahead and setup per your instructions for 4 characters (even though I have 2 now, i will add 2 more later for my own 4 man group)?
Can you elaborate on what you ment in the above? Sorry I am just getting my head around this.

This system is for 2-3 characters, if you are playing 4 (an entire party/group) then you don't need this, as you characters (according to others on these forums) should always end up in the same Party Member Slot in the game.
What I meant above was that when you create a Variable Keystroke you get the option to assign a "Default Key Combination" to it. So it may be a smart idea to assign whatever keys your characters use to target each other when it's just them in a party and no one else (this key should always be the same, and if it's just two characters I believe it may be F2, altough I could be wrong since I don't play the game anymore), so that when you're not partying up with anyone else in the game and it's just your two characters; you don't ever have to use the Set Target key to assign these values/key combinations ingame, instead their assist and follow keys just "works autmoatically".
In other words; you only have to use Set Target when you're partying/grouping with other people, since they will mess up the Party Member Slot arrangement.
