View Full Version : [WoW] 64 Bit Client

I read in the notes today that a 64 Bit Client is now available for WoW for us 64 bit users.
Could any one explain to me the significance of that for both single boxing and Multiboxing?

Should I get it?

Will it make any performance difference while boxing?

Will ISboxer be able to support it?

/edited because my original post was written like a drunken monkey. I apologize to any of you who had to waste a portion of your lives reading my poorly typed drivel.

Unless you've got some special 64-Bit multiboxing software that we don't know about then you can't
use that .exe to multibox with.

2 of the boxers in my guild went to the 64bit client. one is a hardware 10boxer, other is a 5boxing keyclone user. They both said they had a dramatic increase in performance when there are lots of textures i.e. 25man boss fights, IoC throne room on turtle with 10+dks and 10+shams eles and army. They said the upgrade goes into your existing wow folders and it gives you a new wow64.exe. in kc he said he jst had to tell it to open that one instead of wow.exe. Can that be done with ISBoxer as well? or will the .dll's that are loaded with WoW need to be 64 bit dll's (have no clue about this, im more of a hardware type instead of a software type) I Hope Lax or whoever in his dev dept. gets us a 64bit compatible version, it really increases performance.

Can't you just point innerspace to the wow64.exe instead of wow.exe when loading WoW? Will try this tonight if the client isn't too slow to download...

Pointing Inner Space at the 64-bit WoW client will not work. It would require monumental effort to have Inner Space support a 64-bit game client (probably similar reasoning to why it took them so many years to bother with a 64-bit client). To do this, I would need to separately provide 64-bit versions of each of Inner Space's DLLs, and each of them is highly specialized. Here is the related discussion on isboxer.com, complete with some giant asshole demanding I get 64-bit working immediately or he's not paying me another dime: http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1979

In short, I am unlikely to spend the required amount of time rewriting most of Inner Space 1 to support 64-bit game clients (just for WoW, mind you), especially without a price increase (though keep in mind prices have been the same since I started Lavish in 2004).

Inner Space 2 and Joe Multiboxer (ISBoxer's replacement) on the other hand, are much closer (code-wise) to supporting 64-bit game clients, and it's already a rewrite of Inner Space 1. I do not have a solid ETA for you. These things have been pushed back by important ISBoxer development (which I am sure most will agree has been beneficial), along with real life. Adding the 64-bit requirement for IS2 will push it back even further as well.

I wouldn't mind a 64-bit version, if there's a significant performance increase.
But am quite happy with the 32-bit version, and the boxing we have now.

Having the option for a 64-bit version, with Joe Multiboxer, would be my preference.
As you said, its the least amount of work, as it is closer to 64-bit (code-wise).

And the current version of IS Boxer rocks; it will more than just tie us over until JMB's release.

You dont need to point isboxer to the 64 bit install to use it. You need to use the launcher one time. Once launcher is open, you hit the options tab up top and then game settings then simply unclick launch 32-bit client. Launch it one time. close it out. then log with ISboxer and shazzam your good to go. Im getting some graphics problems in 64 bit, mainly when i switch from one character to another character screen, some times a screen will freeze up with crazy random colors, or there will be projections or spheres or cones throughout a certain screen. Never had these problems with the 32 bit client.

C'mon Lax, it's easy! Just multiply all your 32s by 2

Souca obviously is trolling.

To get ISBoxer and IS to 64-bit, you just run it twice. You have to box the boxing software...

I just want to thank Lax for all his efforts as is. If it is as monumental a project as he says it is, I believe him. I love ISBoxer as is, I just look for any performance boosts I can get. I should be fine with my rig up grade I talked about in my other thread last week. In all honesty, if Lax and Jamba went away, I would probably quit multiboxing. I do not want to go back to hardware.

Much love Lax, keep up the good work. :)

What's wrong with me...I'm hoping I'm not alone in this... why is it I always have to go check on the drama... I saw the word "asshole", then couldn't click on the link fast enough... It's obviously something wrong with my brain that wants to see someone being a dickhead, usually on wow forums and then waste 30 minutes/5 days of my life trawling through endless moronic posts
