It is indeed a glorious day. I read through the patch notes and was disappointed there was no mention of a 'follow' fix. But after starting it up, it works!

Now if only they would unlock the command to turn off the error spam. Not so bad on a ranged dps or healer class, but trying to tank or melee in a game with no auto attack that requires you to spam the 'A' button is pretty retarded to have the entire center of the screen blocked by red letters.
I must say, im not surprised.
I think the patch notes are just as awful as the CS. Im thinking I may put in a ticket to ask about when /follow is going to be fixed and see what kind of response I get.
SB_Jones, Thats curious. Im currently running a sorc and a jugg at the same time. I do not have any error messages when I box. Got a few screen shots of the game message and or your boxing setup?

Excellent. Now I can finally use 4 toons instead of 2.

Not enough Rage, effect not ready, etc etc.
Same error spam you get from wow when you hit the button faster than the global cool down.

I *think* you can turn that off in the interface menu. The floating combat text, I mean. I too use a warrior, and I do not have this problem. The warrior simply doesnt do the action when pressed. She just stands there in a combat stance, until the GCD comes back up.
I dont have the computer open at the moment so I cant verify, but im pretty sure.

Follow totally works. Melee totally works.
The only thing I noticed is a pretty big performance hit 4 boxing after the patch... On the order of 15-20fps.

Awesome news, gonna prepare to 4-box now :)
And Mosg2: Do you mean it is now 20FPS less or more?

Check your graphics settings, they may have reset from the patch

It didn't reset my video settings--Just my resolution. I fixed that--Still a 10-20fps loss. Logging in now to play with it.

I had one of my 2 clients display distorted as well.
Copied the cfg file from the first to the second and it worked.
(I do have both clients on my main monitor stacked, and use a dxnothing to view them at my second monitor.)
Enjoyed the boxing yesterday, the fixed follow makes things so much easyer, also the pet of the "following" char is not miles off now.
With stacked windows the window swapping works awesome (I think in this case it is not window swapping, but changing foreground window. (even when playing windowed-full screen)
TL;DR
Thanks lax for the awesome piece of software which makes me enjoy my hobby so much!
So, Mosg and I discussed video concerns last night. We're fairly confident the issues we're seeing are minor, and could potentially show up in the CS forums for Bioware.
However, similar to Bloodcloud, I also saw an odd anomaly with one of the client windows. It would flicker "some" of the graphics,.... some of the time. I did a window wizard refresh, and ditched the client, exited IS and ISB... reloaded in admin mode and re-launched the team (one window was open this entire time). Seemed to have fixed it. The flickering resembled what you would see if there were driver conflicts with the video setup.
by the end of the evening, I had mine operating normally, although I did have to turn off the AA and lower some graphic settings, as my FPS were also showing about 10fps higher than normal.

Now that follow has been fixed, i noticed another issue that needs a remedy; Camera Follow. Its extremely difficult to cast my target area aoe abilities, or if i want to move everyone forward.

Yeah, the camera angle issue does suck. There's no key bind yet to center the screen (that I could find).

So I've been following the boxing progress from you guys... with follow issue being the main complaint. Now that it's fixed...
Q) What are any other big hurdles remaining to make TOR as "smooth" to box as wow? and as rewarding?

I think thats a highly opinionated answer youre asking for. For some people, just the fact that its star wars, makes it rewarding.
SWTOR isnt as smooth as wow yet. Its got some work to do. There isnt an in-game macro system. I find this to be a hang up. There isnt a working IWT either. Focus is glitchy. The game graphics is nice, but also a bit glitchy at times. Running into instances that are character specific is annoying, because you have to manually move all your slaves in... Similar to some of the instance portals for wow in the outlands. There are more weird things too that are just as annoying. the crafting system is odd. to keep all toons crafting, you end up doing nothing but crafting...seeing how as you end up window swapping a lot. Operating separate classes puts you doing different story line class quests... that are often not even in the same area or planet...
etc etc.
The autofollow being fixed, (in my opinioin), makes the annoyances tolerable.

Yes its a subjective question but I appreciate any and all feedback!

Asonimie:
I think the game is just ripe enough to eat :) Follow being fixed is *huge*. You don't have to compulsively hit follow anymore and constantly check your alt windows to see if your guys are stuck or falling behind.
Probably the most frustrating part is going to be reforming your group after a warzone (if you queue as a group it degroups after that warzone is over) and using the focus system in warzones. I'll talk about it more in depth when I do my manifesto (this weekend, I promise everyone).

I think right now 2 boxing is the least hair pulling experience. In general you have very few assisting or following issues since your characters will almost always assist or follow each other when you swap windows. Throwing 3 into the mix can result in A leading with B following A and C following B.

Eh, I have a perfect follow setup, albeit it doesn't work in warzones. That's fixed by simply using a different keymap.

I have 4 different assist/follow keymaps that I toggle on or off for warzones. For me this still doesn't stop the B follows C for some characters when they lead. I suppose IF you run 4 this actually isn't an issue because your group layout is always the same, meaning party slot 3 might be different for 2 characters but you can actually set it up so each character targets the right character depending on which keymap is toggled.
For 3 however the one wildcard slot completely screws it up in warzones.

Ahh I'm setting up a focus system for warzones, since the only time it'll reset is when you die... And I should have a few seconds to set it up properly.

Melee totally works.
This game has IWT (or something similar)?

No. It has autofollow and autoface. It lets you run a very effective melee DPS train.

So, it has IWT, then :p
Are there any melee-healer type hybrids in this game? I used to love playing boxed Warrior Priests in WAR.

Healing is fairly weak unless you're full specced or half specced into the healing trees. Operatives can go something like 11/28/2 and do really good DPS whilst being able to melee.
