I'm 5 boxing using a GTX460 with 768MB VRAM, the card is doing great, I can run all my characters at high GX settings. However, after a while of playing one of the slaves start to show GX glitches, after a bit of fiddling with the GX settings and GPUZ I concluded that the VRAM is filling up. So I turned down the settings a bit, and now it's running ok.

Problem is, I don't really like how the game looks with these settings, so I'm looking for an upgrade. I'll probably go with a 2GB model, but the question is really, is a GTX550 enough to run 5 instances of wow at high settings. Or should I go with a 560. I use this PC only for boxing, so I'm a bit reluctant to buy a really high-end card. However, I do want it to look good and run well.

Any advice is appreciated.

Why do you need all 5 instances to run at high settings? I only ever run the master at high settings, since I'm never even looking at the slave screens for more than a few seconds. Even though my cards can easily handle more, I run all my slaves at the most minimal settings and capped at like 15 FPS.

If it's for swapping, you can readjust the settings on swap through a macro built into your swap key.

It's for swapping, I tried it with a macro, but that increases the time to swap, also my clients started crashing.

I also don't see the point in running all windows on high settings except for projected textures (so you can see rings of frost) and view distance.

You would be downgrading because a GTX 460 is more powerful than a GTX 550 Ti.

For reference, 5 clients using the high preset and DX11 can use up to 2GB of VRAM.

ya 550 is downgrade you need 560 to up. and 2G is better.

I run full screen adn alt tab between instances, its blazing fast.

There is some discussion about this here:

Within one major version of NVidia (and ATI) cards and sometimes two major versions, the higher the last two numbers are is what tells you the ballpark performance rating.

Examples:
NVidia 480 > 470 > 460
NVidia 460 > 550
NVidia 470 > 560
ATI 5870 > 6950
etc.

Generally, these charts hold true: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2011-gaming-graphics-charts/Gamer-Index,2673.html

There are caveats people will snipe but that's generally a good gauge of where they rank.
