I just bought my first account from the game trial and I tried to RAF myself 4 additional invitations. It told me:
Access denied
Recruit a Friend is not available in all countries. For more details, please read the FAQ.
I then read the FAQ and saw it is not available for Switzerland, but is available for the rest of Europe. So I added a German address to see if that would work. Unfortunately, it still does not seem to work, I am not sure where they see I have a swiss address from - besides the credit card I bought the game from.
Could it be that it takes 72 hours to remove all other trial account restrictions besides level cap?:confused:

I am afraid, that you cannt use the benefit of RAF as it is not available in your country. You are also not true, that the rest of Europe is available, because Czech Republic, where I am from, is also not available for RAF.

yeah sorry about that. Not all of Europe is included in RAF.
I will have to change my account address to Germany and use a colleagues address :(

I want to warn you, that using different addres would not work, because country you are from is determined by IP address of your internet connection.
I dont recommend writing false adress, because if/when you need to contact blizzard in some serious problem like account hack/ban/suspension, you may have problems with them helping you because adress of account owner and your adress doesnt match.

Oh damn. Got it Johny. What about if I do the following:
1. use a VPN server in Germany or UK to create and buy the accounts and RAF setup and working
2. Log in and create chars and level them a couple levels from VPN Server IP
3. Log out of VPN (few days later) and connect again from normal IP and add address to the Account info page.
Basically I am travelling quite a lot - consultant. Thus some days I am in Germany, sometimes in Italy, sometimes in USA, sometimes in UK, it varies. When in Europe, at least, I would like to be able to connect and play regardless of country :)
Would that get me the RAF abilities without causing issues for Blizzard on the support side?

this could work.
If I remember correctly, you can freely change your adress except email. So no point in setting some rubbish and changing it right after. The location is determined by IP. So if you can get VPN to different country it should work.

I don't think this is true of the US. The two accounts I started when I lived in florida still have no tax applied to my subs every month, while the three I started living in NJ do have it. So I think its the credit card when you make the account.

Hi Johny, I have to disagree regarding the IP Address.
I live in the UK and play in the UK, but when I was setting up my accounts and RAF accounts I was doing this at work connected through Denmark to access the internet via our WAN which means my IP address is always a Danish based IP address, and I know that RAF is not available in Denmark due to legal reasons.
I had no problems setting up my RAF accounts, so I beleive it also must look at Home Address and / or Payment information.
Cheers

Thanks for the open and honest feedback. That means I will avoid using my home credit card and buy CD keys and game cards from the internet so that my home Credit card address is never associated to my account.

You're going to run into a problem if you decide to customize your character, server transfer, buy items, etc. Those methods require you to use a CC and pay at battle.net.
