I have installed keyclone 1.8e on 2 notebooks, one running Windows Vista and the other running Windows XP Home. I am playing my main on the Vista notebook and the clone on XP. I run Keyclone as adminstrator on my vista notebook. I am able to control the XP clone from my Vista notebook initially, but after playing for a while, I will get a "invalid target" error on my clone computer ( even though the clone has the right target selected). From what I observed, most of the time the problem happened after my clone char talked to a NPC for getting quest, repair and etc. The problem will goes away if I change the clone notebook from full screen to windows mode or the other way round. I came across a thread that briefing mentioned on a similar problem, but that problem was fixed by upgrading to 1.8e, which is what I am currently using. Has anyone encounter a similar problem with 1.8e before?

I have not had this problem with ANY installment of keyclone.

A couple things you might check.

1) Double check all your macros. If your alt has the proper target and you are getting an "invalid target" most likely whatever macro you are trying to use is trying to call the wrong spell.
2) Double check your keybindings. If you have 5 set to call a certain spell (like an attack spell) on your alt and "shift+5" set to call something else (like a buff spell) sometimes your alt computer thinks you are hold down shift (or you might actually be holding down shift on accident).

I assigned the following macros to the action bar on my alt computer:

button 1
/assist stonez

button 2
/cast smite

I always target the mob on my main using the TAB key, then press 1 to have my alt target the same mob, finally press 2 to command my alt to start casting smite on the mob. Initially, this work perfectly, but problem starts happening after my alt interact with any NPC. I thought keyclone on my main computer is not sending the right signal to the Alt computer, so I tried controlling my Alt directly from the Alt computer keyboard. but I still get an "invalid target" error on the Alt computer

At the same time, I also observed that the right mouse click on the alt computer stop responding, eg. can't activate the hearthstone in the inventory.

Both problems are gone if I

1.change the Alt computer from Full screen to windows mode or the other way round
2. terminate Keyclone on the Alt computer.

but they come back again after my Alt interact with NPC .

I have the same problem, It seem to happen when I alt tab a lot, like when I do collection quests, (I run 4/5 clients on 1 pc btw). If that happens I've found the solution to be to close explorer.exe, restart it, close keyclone, restart it. It doesn't happen very often, but untill I found a "solution" it was very annoying : \

that just sounds weird. do you have a 'hidden' item in your keyclone list? i have heard of a window being mapped by the auto-add and when certain keys are hit, they will feed to the 'hidden window' and odd things would occur.

try turning off auto-add and running your wows through commands

let me know if that helps

This sounds very similar to the problem that I have. It doesn't happen all of the time, but while playing, it just loses the ability to select anything from the inventory from the clone machines. My set up is much easier than the way you've got yours. I use ONE KEY press, the number 9, which does this:

/follow main

/assist main

/startattack

/cast (whatever spell I use for that clone as their instant attack spell)

/petattack (If that clone has a pet)

I do all that with one key press. It SAVES a BUNCH of time.

Now the way that I've found without closing down Keyclone or WoW, is just simply alt-tab to Keyclone and depress the button labeled 'override' twice. That fixes it for me.

Just a question for you, is your alt (clone) a healer? Can he do a heal? If so, when you lose the ability to select Hearthstone, can you still heal your main? And can you give your main buffs? Because I can't when this problem happens to me.

hmm... also make sure to use the latest version, v1.8e.

the override overlay issue was corrected with the last version... no more cpu load increases on override

I had this very same problem when I started 5 boxing. You know what fixed it? Switching from /assist macros for target to a /focus based approach.

Never had it happen again.

Hey Gallo, can you give an exact example of how you're using a /focus based approach? Do you mean:

/target main

/focus

/assist focus

?

You have macros for each of your toons to "set" the focus

/target Toon1
/focus

/target Toon2
/focus

etc

then your /follow macro should always be:

/follow focus

then, for spell casting, do:

/cast [target=focustarget] Fireball

for all your spells. That way, whatever your focus is targetting, all the other toons will cast on that as well.
This method makes it easier to transition between toons when the main dies. Your main dies... you just hit F2 or whatever and change focuses... and pew pew away.
Also, this method makes it so you dont have to bang on an assist key for every spell.

I have the same problem as the topic starter.
Typing /logout and then ESC on all clones fixes the problem for me

This has nothing to do with keyclone, the wow client gets this error sporadically when you use /assist in a macro.

Click Tab or Shift-Tab to change targets then your macro targeting will work again

you can get an 'invalid target' if your clone has not received the new target data... and still has the previous target. this is an effect of network latency. if, while on your main, you select a target and fire... in a very short time frame... your alt will receive the 'fire' instruction via keyclone within 1ms... but the new target takes at least 2 * your current latency to arrive at your clones.

i hope that makes sense.

double tapping the fire key would generally be enough to insure the clones get a target and fire. (time between taps being greater then 2*latency, of course)
