Multiboxing in Rift

Just bought a single copy of Rift and was curious if any of you are still actively multiboxing in Rift. I was thinking of multiboxing and wanted to ask your opinion on a few things first.

Is it worth the investment or does it get old pretty fast? How multiboxer friendly is Rift? Seems like it works pretty well from what I've read here.

Rift is very multiboxer-friendly.

I felt like Rift did kinda get boring once my first team hit 50 but I think most of it was just that I've been playing fantasy/adventure MMOs for so long that I'm kinda burned out.

The good thing is Trion has been adding content regularly, much more frequently than Blizzard (or it feels like it anyway).

I still box Rift, currently on Alsbeth. Gearing in rift has more options I feel than WoW did (which I boxed until Rift was released). You can get gear from PvP, dungeons and then the actual rifts.
The add on support is a lot less for Rift than WoW but overall i still enjoy it and being a casual player makes it a nice change from WoW.
Takes a lot more power to box on single machine though, most boxers I think run the main client on a low/medium setting and the other clients on the low setting which needs a restart of the game to enable.

I hate that game companies do that now days. SWtOR is that way as well.

I still box Rift actively. I keep creating new characters and teams so it seems I never get time to try out everything Rift has to offer. I still haven't even tried all dungeons yet, and I _just_ started playing in the new zone they added (Ember Isle) with one of my teams. I've been playing pretty much since Rift came out.

I guess I just take things slow. I always set up a few short term goals and stick with that, then come up with a new goal. Like getting all my rogues to the same level (40) while only playing PvP, getting color-matched max-level horses for my cleric team, finish all chronicles on all characters, finish all puzzles on all characters, getting all world event rewards for all characters, crafting the max-sized bags myself for all my characters and their bank bags, reaching max PvP rank on one team, etc. Just doing the world events for all my characters usually takes most of my available time...

I have all my chars on Estrael. My cleric team are guardians and the rest are defiant. I really like that they (recently) added the ability to mail stuff between your characters even if they're on the opposing faction. :)

Our guild moved from Alsbeth to Greybriar, seems to have been a good move. I am the only multiboxer in the guild the rest play solo and I don't think I have seen another multiboxer on Greybriar yet.

The biggest effect I am seeing by the Exodus is that Rift events are not succeeding due to the lack of players :( .
Even the Auction House is not selling a lot of stuff that was selling great.

I was beginning to wonder. The decent gear on the AH and certain materials has all but disappeared the last time I checked (about a week or two ago).

SWtOR might not have been a WoW killer, but i bet it put a hurt'n on the smaller MMOs

Rift seemed to have taken a hit over the Christmas with people offline during college break and the SWtOR release. I think at that point people panicked. Now that I am looking to move I have been checking shard populations and it seems there are only 3 shards which are hitting medium to high at peak times, all the rest are sitting at low.
I am really enjoying Rift, but if the population does not come back it seems pointless to play if the game is dying :(

I'm sure at some point they will close/merge servers to keep them healthy. I mean even EQ is thriving all these years later. They just merge servers when the need arises.

Estrael was my first server and I've always liked it. It may not have the highest population, but it seems just fine to me. It's not as populated as the other PvE-RP server, but I have an easier time getting into warfront queues on Estrael than other servers, though that's mostly because of Wolfsbane. Warfronts almost seem like an internal affair for Wolfsbane - both teams are almost always totally filled up with players from Wolfsbane. I think Alsbeth is in the same group but there are very few people from Alsbeth in the warfronts.

I have always preferred PvE-RP servers because people seem to be much more mature. And people on Estrael are nice, on both sides (I have level 50s on both sides on Estrael).

I pretty much never get critiqued for multiboxing on Estrael. Rather, I often get encouraging comments.

Over Christmas, I did notice a sharp break in the number of players. However, it seems they've all come back now.

Wow, so some servers are being shut down soon, including my Estrael... :/ I really liked that server, but I'll be moving all my chars to Faeblight instead. Hopefully that battlegroup will pick up with the influx of people. Estrael had the benefit of playing with Wolfsbane which has a gazillion of people and very active warfronts...

I moved my toons back to Deepwood and I am still disappointed with the AH on that shard (that was the reason I moved from there initially) .It seems a lot of raiding guilds moved there and a lot of stuff gets dumped on the AH for less than the cost to create it :(
I don't PvP at all so warfronts are not something I have checked.

I will stick with Deepwood for a little and see if it settles more, unfortunately the economy is something I enjoy and Deepwood does seem to suck for that lol

Create a toon on Greybriar and see if the economy is better on our server, it seems to me that it is based on your description above. What items are undervalued on Deepwood as I can then check them against the same item on Greybriar.

I have been doing pretty well selling things on the AH ( artifacts, augments, black and white dyes ) and other assorted items.

My main Auction House items are the mats with the daily cooldowns. They are selling on Deepwood for only a few solver more than what the mats cost :( , Tempered Orichiden 11g , vender mats 8p50g, catalytic essence 1p and then the ore bars.

It seems there are a metric ton of people on Faeblight now. It was a lot before, but it's pretty insane now. I almost never use the AH, but I can check the prices on the stuff your interested in tonight, both Guardian and Defiant side.

On the Guardian side, Tempered Orichalcum is 14-18p, Catalytic Essence is around 1p.
On the Defiant side, Tempered Orichalcum is 14-17p, Catalytic Essence is 70g-2p.

I moved my teams over to Faeblight. The main tank is Divinelace and they are all on the defiant side. My lowbie team on guardian side is only level 15 and the tank is called Hurtlocker.

On Faeblight, my Guardian cleric level 50 team is: Dansa, Dimma, Despoine, Dannya, Domona. Defiant 50s are: Sannya, Darryan, Sandrina. Then I have a bunch of lower-level (30-41) characters on the Defiant side. I mostly play after midnight (Eastern) with my clerics.

I'm looking at Faeblight or Greybriar myself, I was on Alsbeth originally then hopped recently to Wolfsbane, but the RL friend I followed there hopped again to try to get into a reaiding guild.

Can anyone help me understand the RP server difference? I tend to keep to myself ingame (im a boxer duh) and if I can mostly just play quietly and calmly without getting a lot of boxer hate I am seriously considering it. Smedbox' comment about more mature player pop on Faeblight is what grabbed my attention in the first place hehe :)

Well I have been on Faeblight now for a few days and it seems fine, unfortunately it is now one of the higher populations servers and so dailies etc take a little longer due to respawns etc. As for boxer hate, I have had quite a few negatve comments with only one positive comment so far since the move. Most comments are to the effect "get a life" . I think this maybe more due to the higher population on the server and so I am bumping into more haters and not necessarily anything to do with Faeblight being RP.
I have to say the general chat is a bit better than the WoW type chat that was on Deepwood.
Overall I am reasonably happy in game and it was nice to bump into Smedbox the other night during a Rift event.
I think it will take a while yet before the servers settle down post all the moves.

In my experience on Faeblight, the boxing feedback I'm getting is about 50/50 positive/negative. This weekend there was one person who yelled "we have a botting team on our side" one time, one person who politely asked why I was boxing while I was grouped with him doing rifts, one who sent a whisper thinking it was awesome. Often, they line up next to me while I'm standing in formation AFK. Sometimes they will try to sheep one in my team and hope I won't notice (I do). ;)

Usually, people are welcoming and grateful that I help them with crafting rifts, a group quest, or whatever they need. I never hide my team or try to avoid getting noticed. I sometimes put my team in file formation and walk around Sanctum when getting from one NPC to another.

Generally speaking, I have no problems with the population in PvE.

I have sold two artifacts on the AH for 50 plat each and a bunch of others between 10 - 30 plat.
I had one listed at 100 plat as the only other one was listed at 200 plat, no takers though. :(
