I've been thinking about creating a more elaborate keymap system that will work off of activated keymaps. In theory this will allow you at the very least to rapidly swap between an assist/follow system that is keyed up to work off of Party 1, Party 2, Party 3, Party 4.

I've yet to put it in full practice as I am about to hit 50 and don't want the extra distraction as I make the final push. However here is a rough overview as to how I plan to do it.

Make 4 new keymaps named Utility F1 through F4.

Each utility keymap will contain assist/follow macro's designed to target F1-F4 which correspond with targeting party member 1 through 4.

I will additionally add 4 new hotkeys to the "Always On" keymap called "Activate F1" through F4. Each one of these hotkeys will toggle the Utility Keymaps off or on.

My character keymap will now refer in all situations to all 4 of the Utility keymaps.

So for example referring to my framework my DPS spam macro will look like the following.

Step 1.
Assist F1 -> self
Assist F2 -> self
Assist F3 -> self
Assist F4 -> self
Follow F1 -> self
Follow F2 -> self
Follow F3 -> self
Follow F4 -> self
Shift F1 -> self
Shift F2 -> self
Shift F3 -> self
...
Shift F11 -> self

If I join a warzone and by some miracle I occupy slots 1 and 2, then I will activate Utility F1 keymap and disable Utility F2, F3 and F4.

More likely, one character will occupy slot 1, and one will occupy slot 3. In this case I decide who becomes the driver and I use activate either the F1 set or the F3 set.

Now, this might not work at all, it is entirely in theory at this point!

Fingers crossed. I really need this to work. Or for Bioware to get the dam Macro system working.

what i'm wondering, is since i use a G15 and G13 and i can write macros in that software to be similar to what in game would be, has SWTOR said anything about that type of software?

I know Bliz didn't like it so i've never used it, but i do know it can be done, at least until we get a macro system in game.

What do you guys think? too risky?

G-keys will only work for pass through. Cannot write a hokey macro with the g-key Logitech tool and have it work on all accounts... Will only work on the front window.

even if i have the software loaded on each pc written with the same macros for each key?

i would think that would work, but still bordering on automation depending on what i write it as.

I would advise not to do it. At the moment one "click" = one "action". anything more than that would be considered automation. unless i misunderstood what you were saying/asking, in which just ignore me :P lol

SWTOR has an official deal with Razor to provide a swtor specific Naga.

Many, many people who run Nagas use the built in macro functionality to create priority based macros that execute single or even multistage macros.

That the line of mice are specifically designed for this purpose and that Bioware has officially teamed up with them leads me to believe that it would be rather hypocritical to take any action against a player over this.

Additionally, I hit 50 last night on Firkran Crystal, so tonight or tomorrow at some point I am going to flesh this out and see if I can go from theory to application! I'll let you all know.

Blizzard has an official deal with Steelseries to make a World of Warcraft mouse with the same maco-able functionality
(including delays) and these functions are still against the World of Warcraft TOS.

So far so good. It is following correctly. Warzone is queue'd that will be the ultimate test ;p

Ok, here is the quick and dirty.

It works. In fact it works very well. At the start of a match, quickly cycle through each hotkey map. Bingo you have functioning autofollow/assist setup without the hassle of manually changing the hotkeys.

More over, I've had some pretty solid success with my Commandos in warzones. It's been a bit of a learning process. I started out as Gunnery spec. It was ok but due to the broken nature of autofollow my mobility was so severely hampered that I was literally stuck in just a few locations in each warzone. So I switched to Medic.

Medic is working out much better overall.

Enplane this?

In the original post I described a keymap system that had 4 Utility Keymaps.

Each one of these keymaps can be turns off or on. Each of the keymaps has a follow and an assist. I name them Assist F1-Assist F4. They run their assist/follow macros off of party 1 through party 4 respectively. So the Utility F1 Keymap is assisting and following party slot 1. Utility F4 keymap is assisting and following party slot 4.

I use control-f1 etc to target party members.

All macros I use now that use assist or autofollow have all 4 assist or follow macros called. At the start of a warzone I will swap to my secondary character and hit Ctrl-F1 Ctrl-F2 Ctrl-F3 Ctrl-F4 until it targets my lead. Once I find that party slot, I toggle the corresponding keymap on, and turn the other 3 off.

By doing this my DPS/Follow macros can be switched on the fly to work off of any party slot.
