It is a little premature to start wholesale theory crafting, however, what compositions are people planning to run?
I'm a day or two out from having both of my pre-orders and I still haven't decided :)
I guess I should kick this off, so for everyone who has boxed a little bit in beta what is your opinion on the viability of melee in pvp using autofollow? I'm quite interested personally. Auto follow in this game is a little different from auto follow in other games.
I'm rolling Republic and have no interest in PvP, which I know puts me in a minority here. Taking that into account and based on a few combinations I tested in the Beta my first team will be a Vanguard Tank with a Sage DPS. I tried that team to the high 20's and it worked very well. I'll also level a Commando DPS / Sage Healer duo.
I'll level the two duos separately, but they're on a total of 4 accounts. At 50 I'll bring the two duos together to do Heroic FP's. That's my plan.

For me, I think it will be trial and error. The game is so new, I do not want to get too excited for any one comp. I will be starting with a solo Jug ( will only have one account for a few days ). I will level him up to get his droid, then start gathering mats. If i get my next account in before he gets to that point. I will shelve him and start two Sorcs.
I am thinking more and more about leveling the two Sorcs as high as i can get them before the 20th, then I might very well start two more accounts and level one Jug and one more sorc to 4box. If i stick with two accounts for awhile. Ill start a duo of BHs when my sorcs are 15ish.

Someone earlier(different thread) said that companions can't access heroic flashpoints. My understanding is this is not correct and companions can indeed go into heroic flashpoints.

If that is true, I will "try" and stick with two. Not sure if heroics will doable with companions. We will have to level up, gear them out and give it a shot 8) Will be fun trying. The only reason to do four accounts, for me, is if no companions in heroics is the rule.
There will be enough of us two boxing in Revs guild though. So i can always team up with a fellow boxer if need be. I keep going back and forth on the idea of 4 boxing... hehe. I like the companions, they add i lil something to the game.

I'm going 4x. I'm sure I'll level up one group of each class empire side.
It'll be something like:
1 Assassin
2 Sorcerer (DPS)
1 Sorcerer (Heal)
1 Powertech
2 Mercenaries (DPS)
1 Mercenary (Heal)
2 Juggernauts
2 Marauders
3 Snipers
1 Operative
I have a good experience with DPS Sorcerer so I'm pretty sure the first group will do just fine.
I have a small experience with a Powertech so I'm confident about the second group working fine too. The only thing that worries me is that I think they work around aoe damage and so far I haven't figured it out how to do it correctly in SWtOR (correct me if I'm wrong but there's no way of assuring they all have the same camera view for ground targeting)
I have no experience of Third group whatsoever but I think it will hardly work in Flashpoints due to the lack of heal. It's also totally unknown to me at this point how manageable a full melee group is (and yes, I've read the thread about it but just have to try myself.
The fourth group, I have a small experience of having played an Operative and as the group above this one just won't work in Flashpoints but will as far as I've read all around (including here) have an immense DPS power to clean up heroics.
Looking at all this I'm wondering to make composite groups of pairs of two that start in the same planet or even going as far as 1 of each once they reach level 10 and get to the Imperial Fleet. I guess only time and experience will tell.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Cheers,
A.

I'm pretty confident melee will work. That said I am going to do Commandox2 or Sagex2 first. Safer bet. For four boxing, Operative+Jugg+Marauder could work, or Operativex2 + Assassin+ Marauder or Opx2Assx2 for pure stealth team lots of DPS lots of healing! The last one, Op, Op, Ass, Ass is what I'd do if I 4 boxed for melee.

Thank you for your insight.
Any idea on how to make multiple ground aoe work in SWtOR?
Cheers,

Yea, tell bioware to code a proper chase cam ;p

I don't imagine there's a reason you can't do the same thing in SWTOR that I've recommended for years in WoW -- point your slave cameras straight downward. Is there a limitation here I'm not aware of? (I didn't try that in beta and I wont be in early access to try it now)

The camera remains fixed at all times if you are not actively using movement keys to move your character. When you do use movement keys, the camera orients to the direction it is looking. So if you were running north and your camera was chasing north and then you take an easterly turn. The camera will continue to look north. If you tap forward on movement keys, your character will snap north and move in that direction.

It's been almost a year since I boxed WoW but what I remeber is that more than the orientation of the camera, there was a way to put all toons into a default camera distance (preset I think).
That's good to know about orientation, problem solved but I do believe we need to set the same camera distance to have accurate aoe ground targeting.

As far as I know it isn't going to be possible to sync GTAOE spells up the way you could in WoW. The camera just functions in a different way.

Ultimately I would like 4x of each ranged AC on Empire side.
To start with though, I want 4x Sorcerers and then 2x Assassin tanks. This way I can do full PvE with all 4 Sorcerers without having to find a tank to make it happen.
