I have two level 80 toons that quested and have good gear. I also have a bunch of level 80 toons that were boosted and granted levels from RAF that have no gear. What is a good way to get gear for these toons so they can start fighting?

Hyjal quests ? And/or AH

If you start doing the Hyjal quests and complete that zone to unlock the FL dailies you will come out wiht some good gear. You will get some 288/308 blues for most toons on some of the quests. I leveled my 4 shaman from 80-85 by questing/PVP. By the time you get Hyjal cleared you should be 81 and closing in on 82. Head to Deepholm, start questing and get higher iLevel gear. At 83 Uldum, nice blues here as well. At 84 straight to Twilight Highland. Unlock the zone and then head to Crucible of Carnage for 333 weapons. Again lots of great items in zone.

I alternated questing with queueing for AV. Nice change up and decent experience. The best bonus is free 378/384 gear to unlock the new heroice (353) and LFR (372) functions. I did the new instances solo to get all the 378 quest items and what not. Doing the entire chain takes maybe 1.5 to 2 hours each. Too easy.

Finally, if you have a crafter there are some cheap items you can make. I made 5 pieces of the vicious set (2 x rings, cloak, necklace and relic (Played Shaman)). But I had a JC, Tailor and Inscriptionist to boost me some gear. These 5 items are all 377 or so so it helps you unlock the new content for cheap. I looked at buying/crafting the mail set but the pieces were cost prohibitive. So what I did was purchase some items from AH. Didn't equip them but it boost you iLevel to get into instances to get the gear you need to be succesful.

I had checked the AH before starting this thread. I was amazed by how little gear is available. I guess people are busy getting new gear from 4.3.

I don't think a toon with no gear can start doing level 80 quests and live very long. I guess I'll have to keep my boosting account active so another toon with gear can take care of the mobs.

You could always go back and do Icecrown to pick up some of the older gear off of somewhat easier quest mobs. You will
still get XP from the quests as well.

Can one toon with no gear take on Icecrown mobs?

Your BEST option to gear up your naked toons is to use your booster in hyjal, like you said. There is no easy way unless you get lucky and find the gear on AH. Your right a naked toon will struggle with Hyjal Quests mobs.

The only downside to boosting toons from low to high level is they end up naked at the end.. but it only takes a few hours of questing in Hyjal to gear them up 8) So not a bad deal!

You basically have to go Hyjal. The good gear around 80 is basically unobtainable as people buy them to Twink lvl 79s for BGs.

I doubt it. I was under the impression you had a team you were attempting to gear up.

If you have some geared toons, and some not geared toons.
Group them together and run them through Hyjal/Vashj'ir quests.

The quests are designed for solo toons, at 80th with basically quest level gear.
A group of 4/5 almost naked 80's (from boosting, granting, etc) would likely have at least the firepower of a single fresh to 80th toon (and no pvp/raid gear).
If for some reason things are difficult, sub in toons with gear to group with those without.

I wouldn't recommend defending the starting cave.

It can give boxers a bad reputation, and blizzard does infrequently confiscate gear from those who AFK BG's.
Stick with the swarm, protection in numbers.
A 2-minute trinket is probably the best item to go for first; after that a two-piece set bonus.

If your toons have the capability of a healer off-spec, I'd go that route.
Even if you're gearing Ret Pallies, Feral Druids or Elem. Shamans...
Run in healer spec, stick with the swarm, and heal.
Definitely purchase pvp gear for the spec you'll be running, not the healer role.

I started doing AV in my questing gear from grinding 80-85 as I described higher up. And in very limited crafted PVP gear was ended up being 4-5 of the top 10 damage almost every BG. By staying grouped + totems + thunderstorming warriors/DKs/kittys/rogues you should be able ot rofle stomp to some quick honor for gear up.

Now that being said. Do not buy the level 80 PVP gear. It is crap with the availability of level 77-80 green cata gear you will pick up in Hyjal doing quests. With in the first 10-20 quests you will get 2-4 gear up drops that will come very close to beating the level 80 WOTLK gear you could get with honor. I did most of hyjal replacing my level 70 pvp gear with items that were much much better. The level 80 arena gear costs too much to be replaced in a week when you want you honor for some 384/390 gear.
