View Full Version : Do you ever wake up...

I have a slight case of short term memory loss, and this morning when I woke up i brushed my teeth twice before realizing what I just did. I don't know, but many things I do i keep accidentally doing twice, or looking behind me constantly to make sure my clones are still there and haven't broken out of follow, before realizing I don't actually have clones in real life. Even while playing team fortress today I died and instinctively attempted to switch mains over to the next one before realizing that team fortress is single boxing. Anyone else having problem from a bit too much multiboxing?

True story:

I was talking to a buddy of mine on the phone and he was blurting out some numbers. I processed the numbers he gave me and multiplied by 5. Later that day I went over those numbers with him again and he was like, 'That's totally wrong, man. Did you pull those numbers out of your ass or something?"

Now I multiply by 10 and it is a little easier to catch myself.

Best reply ever, Mudd :p

I do have similar issues for a short period after multiboxing...I start surfin the web(lolzoldskool terminology) and half the time I catch myself trying to alt-tab to my other windows and do the same thing there...then I realize "goddamnit I did it again, I'm not fucking boxing outside of wow! cut it out brain!" lol; I haven't quite had the issues for extended periods though, just after multiboxing for awhile and I log off ;p Haven't had it happen in TF2 though thankfully...though if I COULD box TF2...oh lord the fun that could be had there, my own personal medic lol

Not related to multi-boxing but is relevant as a learned behaviour, I use the Grab and Drag extension for firefox and now try and drag every every window instead of scrolling (grab and drag provides Acrobat like page scrolling)

I was talking to my friend about this, he said he was going down the freeway one day, and wanted to do a /stick to a car in front of him, he said a /stick was like /follow in another game. I loled.

I've tried that, and I actually got mad when it didn't work.

I probably shouldn't be allowed to drive....

yes, short term memory loss, and also I will admit to being somewhat absent minded, or having so many things on my mind that I will be on cruz control for normal daily functions. This leads to interesting behavior like putting shaving cream on toothbrush and trying to comb hair with it, or pouring my juice on my cereal instead of milk or something like that, then kind of "wake up" after the deed is done and go wtf is wrong with me! I think sleep deprivation has something to do with this. :)

I code, a lot, for work, for sport, and just for fun... often I find myself beating on a particularly problematic issue and I find myself losing sleep over it...

It's not that I'm NOT sleeping, it's that sleep isn't restful when you are going over code in your dreams... Though more than once I've woke up and thought "FFS thats it!" ran and tested the change in the compiler and had it work...

Not in real life, but when I'm raiding I now find myself trying to cast chain lightning in various situations. Very disappointed that my mage is unable to do that.

i design and write code for a living. sometimes they push the deadlines to stupid levels. during these times, 100 hr/weeks are not unusual. coding nonstop... saving... code.. compile... test... repeat

one time, during one of these crunch cycles, we were pulled into a meeting... i brought in my paper notepad to scribble on... just in case. and in the middle of the meeting, i wrote a note...

and found my left hand doing the 'alt-f-s' dance to save 8|

And I thought trying to hit the Pause key for keyclone was bad when I wasn't even running wow or keyclone, just chatting in IRC...lol

It gets frustrating when your work and sleep blend into a huge tangle.

Happily i haven't tried to polymorph that annoying project manager that likes to walk by 5 mins before i am headed out the door...

INCOMING NERD TALK COVER YOUR EYES

Actually that's how the brain works...goin a little offtopic but I saw a special on the human body on Discovery a sunday or two ago and it explained how the Brain works during sleep; summarized, REM sleep = Brain is recounting the day's information(and working twice as hard, taking twice the bloodflow of normal) and basically "sorting" it all from Temporary Memory into Permanent Memory, if it's memory worth keeping. They also mentioned something about the above, this sorting combined with the fact that your brain only shuts down 1 part during REM sleep: Reason. Aka you can dream of anything without regard to laws of physics or other rules you'd simply accept while awake; and it's that particular lack of Reason that's led to some things such as Einstein's Theory of Relativity and basically said "...and is why some people wake up in the middle of the night with an "AH HAH!" moment...". Interesting stuff, really, and not only makes alot of sense but explains alot too.

END NERD POST.

I was just working at my PC for a little and just heard the rogue stealth animation to my right!
Needless to say I pressed “5” (my nova totem keybinding)

My spacebar is my autofollow button for all my toons and Shift+4 is my Water Shield, and I hit these buttons every few seconds if I'm not doing something else compulsively when I'm playing the girls...

But it translates into everything else I do on the computer. I'll randomly start hitting them while I'm web surfing or playing one of my other toons.

And yeah, sometimes when I YIM I hit the Pause/Break button ><
