View Full Version : [ISBoxer] Replace PwnBoxer with IsBoxer

For a long time I have been using both. I use IsBoxer for teams all of one class (such as 5 hunters), and I use PwnBoxer for mixed classes (such as tank, healer, 3 x dps). The reason being PwnBoxer just seemed easier to setup for mixed teams, and IsBoxer is much easier to setup for same class teams.
All was well with the world, I saw no problems at all having two programs. Then came the new PwnBoxer version and the new pricing scheme. Now it seems like the owner of PwnBoxer is actually going out of his way to upset me. Any question I ask about the pricing or upgrades and he gets overly defensive and his replies seem poisoned and I end up so upset I cant sleep.

So now I am trying to move everything to IsBoxer, kind of dreading the setup though. Do I need separate directories for the different types of teams? For single class teams I make alot of use of all of IsBoxer features. But with multi-class teams I simply have a short list of keypresses that need passed to all windows, everything else is ignored. IsBoxer seems daunting for such a simple task.
But its better than giving PwnBoxer anymore of my money for sure.

ISboxer is better in every way, sure it will take you some time to get used to it, but when you do, its amazing what cool stuff you can make and how easy it is to run everything :)
With directories do you mean game folders? then no, all are run from a singel folder, different teams use different config files.
as for the multiclass thing i dont see why it would be harder then a singel class team to setup, just make a key map, add the set you want then add the keys you like to braodcast and boom, done (if you need info about key maps etc head over to ISboxer.com check the forums there or just check the countless threads on Dual-boxing.com :))
There are some good Videos on Youtube explaining alot of stuff about ISboxer aswell some are dated but still as usefull!
EDIT: Here is a great guide to ISboxer made by Ualaa http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=26231 alot of good stuff there

I'm not sure what you're dreading here (unless you're reading Ualaa's guide which might seem like a lot of reading for what you want, because it is) because from what you just said it should take 3-5 minutes to be done configuring... and I never would have expected in a thousand years for someone to say same class in ISBoxer and different class with something else. (I would expect exactly opposite; PB is mostly the same as Keyclone after all)
1. No, ISBoxer is designed for you to only ever need a single game folder. You CAN use multiple folders if you want, but doing so is just adding complexity (and likely hurting performance).
2. After running the Quick Setup Wizard, if your short list of key presses goes beyond 1 through =, add them with the Many New Mapped Keys window as explained by the quick start guide: WoW Quick Start Guide: Quickly add many hotkeys, optionally with auto-assist
(http://isboxer.com/wiki/WoW:Quick_Start_Guide#Quickly_add_many_hotkeys.2C_ optionally_with_auto-assist)
That's all the configuring you mention wanting to do, let me know if there's more. ;)

I really like this feature, for multiple team setups.
If you open up the Toolkit, for configuration of your character sets.
And then click on one of the character sets.
In the bottom left frame, you have Key Maps, along with all the Key Maps that apply to that team.
If you click on Key Maps, in the bottom left frame, in the bottom right frame you can "White List" various Key Maps for your team.
The Key Maps you select here, are the only ones which can apply to your team/character set.
The wizard gives you General, FTL DPS and Control Keymaps, each with a bunch of mapped keys within.
I have things that apply to all teams always, in Control (applies whether Keymaps are enabled or disabled)... things like: when I swap from one character to another, do this...
I have things that apply to all teams, but only when Key Maps are active in General... things like Shift F10 = Shift F10 to all windows (which happens to be my Ground Mounts).
I generally copy the FTL DPS Key Map in its entirety, and then paste and rename it after the Character Set.
Then the original FTL DPS Key Map is set to not apply to the character set, but the copy is.
So I can make changes, such as "4" being a round-robin within the character set, without having conflicts with other sets; if you make "DPS 4" within the default FTL DPS Key Map a round-robin key, your other teams might not like that.
In general, run the wizard for the new team.
Get all the basic stuff done.
Then create a Key Map that will only apply to this team.
Set your Key Maps, as above.
Then modify whatever you want, within the Key Maps that apply to your new team without interfering with existing teams.
You can have a Spam Key.
It can send "1" to your first class/tank.
And "2" to your other guys.
Or however you want to configure it.
The two-step macros by Mercurio are phenomenal for mixed classes.
Mash one key, which alternates between two macros for each class on your team.
