Hello DB Community,
I am seeking information on buying a new gaming computer for World of Warcraft, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I am trying to keep my cost relatively low.
I plan to try out duo-boxing in Warcraft at medium settings, high if I can do it cost effectively. I choose not to build a system, I just don't have the know-how to do it, nor do I wish to learn.
My cap for this new computer (just the system, no peripherals) is approximately $1000.
Any information that could assist me in this adventure into uncharted territory would be much appreciated.
Thank you for your time!

PS: Since it may make a difference, I am in the US.

I was hoping for some links to some prebuilt computers from reliable companies. I just don't want to bring home a computer that ends up being malfunctioned or incorrect for my needs.

You're gonna be hard-pressed to get a pre-built with a decent amount of RAM and decent graphics card for sub-$1000 from any of the major manufacturers.

Ughmahedhurtz is right. for 1k it won't be easie to get a good build. If you need monitor also, it will be even tougher.
Something like this can run skyrim with 1080p medium => high settings with like 2AA. Can't really run it with ultra settings.

and skyrim is really easy on the system spec. Try something like witcher 2, you will really see your system slow down.

off the top of my head:
2600k i7 - $300
i7 mobo - $90
500gb hd - $40
8gb ram - $120
gtx 560 - $235

Salvage a cdrom drive or soundcard from your current comp.

You can build a pc for under 1k. It's really easy to build one. If you have windows you can install it on the new pc. All you have to do is put the parts together. One thing to be aware of is hard drive prices are through the roof right now. The same drive that cost me $109 in Sept cost $259 due to flooding in Taiwan. You can get a decent chip, hd, video card, ram, case, mb, dvd drive, and monitor fairly cheap. Check out newegg.com. Be sure to check out their weekly email specials and 24hr deals.
