So i have been away since about 2 months before the Cata expansion. I use to box multi class, 5 man teams in the Warth Heroics etc.

I've been thinking of coming back, and upgrading all my accounts to Cata.

So the question is what is boxing like now?
What is good?
What is bad?
Is it still rewarding to do Heroics while boxing?
Is the content worth while?
Is levelling teams while boxing any harder? Quests vs Instances etc.

So what is peoples views of the current state of WoW and Boxing?

I still LOVE boxing. I am a 4 ele shammy team and they are pretty good in BGs.

Leveling up via questing is decent. There aren't a massive amount of collection quests, and the first zone Mount Hyjal gets you to at least lvl 82. Another option is leveling up via battlegrounds. If you have full wrathful from lvl 80, you will dominate lvl 82 onwards.

I can't talk about heroics as I don't box them, but they are harder than wrath heroics, easily harder.

atm, the easiest team for me for pve was 4dk 1hpally. i also do 5xmage and its crazy fun, still in the process of gearing them to do pve effectively.

The content and lore was fun to go through once or twice.

The initial zone is either Hyjal (land) or Vashj'ir (underwater).
My druids (with Aquatic Form) had a lot of fun in Vashj'ir, but every other team could not stand this zone.
The vast majority of players seems to prefer Hyjal of the two.

From a leveling point of view, you can skip a single zone and do the others to level up.
If you do both Hyjal and Vashj'ir, you can skip a later zone and be high enough to get the next one.
Or alternatively, to reach 85th with most/all of the last zone for questing in at maximum level.

The quest process is extremely linear and sucks compared to anything previous.
Numerous hubs across the zone, with only quests at the current hub.
The process is essentially: a couple quests for them to trust you, do something big for them, be sent to the next quest hub.
Without that quest to go to the next area, most of the time none of the NPC's there will interact with you from a quest progression point of view.

I really didn't like the rail-roading/linear approach.
But really liked the story in Vashj'ir, and enjoyed the desert area (Uldum).

Naturally you can PvP for experience (which is decent if you win at least half of the time) or you can run instances too.
Questing is not your only route to 85th.

The gear is a larger increase over previous content in Cataclysm than even Classic > Burning Crusade.

My 5x Ferals (all in Cat Form) leveled faster and easier than any other combination.
They were able to beat all but one quest mobs where you click this item to reduce its power, without using the item.
The 4x DK's + Paladin team were not nearly as successful on beating those mobs.
But any group can plow through the content and with the use of those items, beat the special mobs easily too.

I've pretty much only done questing and pvp in this expansion... none of the PvE stuff really, aside from questing to level.

Maybe I am remembering incorrectly, but there seemed to be a ton of collection quests to me. Maybe it wear the fact that they couldn't be avoided due to the INCREDIBLY linear nature of the Cataclysm quest system.

The most annoying part about the collection quests is that over half of them are ground spawn items that take forever to respawn. I didn't mind the chests and things that would give an item to each character, but those meat and food and barrels o' beer collection quests clicking ground items and having to do 12 of each... on each character... painful man, painful.

I actually got so disgusted with the leveling that I stopped at 90+% at 84 just because I was so irritated. I came back 3 months later to finish it to 85, but it was a terrible experience.

I actually levelled up mostly in EotS during its CtA weekend. Was in full wrathful... dominated. Over 60 games, around 3-5 losses.

To put it in perspective, in mount Hyjal, there is like 1 collection quest in the sets of 3 or so you get given, max. BUT, I just rolled 4 new shams, and like 8 of the first 11 quests were collection quests.
