When I try to use the follow command on my main, instead of the macro keybind being ignored on the main window, it still activates the macro in that window. Also, even though I have copied (as far as I can tell) the FTL follow guide as written, it does not work on my 5 man team, it does however work on a 2 man team I have.
Below is the macro I have on all 5 characters, the macro itself also does not work?? All help more than welcome. Also on the macro below, if it was working correctly, is there a limit for the number of toons set to each keybind? i.e. could I assign extra toons to the same keybing for when i swap out toons from other teams?
targetexact [shift] Masterblasterz
targetexact [alt] Divinelace
targetexact [ctrl] Divinehunter
targetexact [shift] [alt] Healingways
targetexact [ctrl] [shift] Holyhands
follow
targetlasttarget

Keeping in mind the character limit present in the standard interface you may have to modify the macro below:
/targetexact [mod:shift,nomod:ctrl/alt,exists] Masterblasterz
/targetexact [mod:shift,nomod:ctrl/alt,exists] AlternateToonName
/targetexact [mod:alt,nomod:ctrl/shift] Divinelace
/targetexact [mod:ctrl,nomod:shift/alt] Divinehunter
/targetexact [mod:shiftalt,nomod:ctrl] Healingways
/targetexact [mod:ctrlshift,nomod:alt] Holyhands
/follow
/targetlasttarget The mod set demonstrates how to apply an alternate option.
The above macro uses your extremely long method of accomplishing this task. You may have a reason not presented in this inquiry, however, it would use far fewer characters to use the following:
/follow [mod:shift, nomod:ctrl/alt, target=Masterblasterz][mod:alt,nomod:ctrl/shift,target=Divinelace][mod:ctrl,nomod:shift/alt,target=Divinehunter][mod:shiftalt,nomod:ctrl,target=Healingways][mod:ctrlshift,nomod:alt,target=Holyhands]Since you can't follow yourself the main character would ignore the follow command and would never change targets.

So unfortunately this issue is in Rift, the original macro supplied was from the FTL guide Lax provided here:

Lax gave you an answer on your ISBoxer forum thread:

Lax's response does not seem to address that the macro itself does not seem to be working as I think it is supposed to. My thought on the above macro is that no matter which character is selected, the other characters will follow, the above macro does not result in that behaviour for me :(

This is the same macro I am using for my 5 man team.
The only issue I had was the I put the [shift] [alt] as the first entry as it was assigned to my 1st toon and that doesn't work.
It will always trigger the [alt] one instead, which caused follow problems that to a bit to solve but it works now.

I think Lax's response explains everything. That exact macro works fine for me in all my teams (2, 3 or 5 man).
It's possible to have all your characters in a single macro, even the ones not on your team. You can have both "targetexact [shift] MyHealer" and "targetexact [shift] MyOtherHealer" in the same macro. Characters that aren't online will be ignored.
But what BettySue wrote about "nomod" and just using the "/follow" command seems very interesting. I'll definitely try that out later.

So I restarted ISBoxer with a clean config and now this works. lax pointing out that there was WoW toons (which i have not played in months) in the config made me think a fresh config would be a good idea :)

I just started doing this as well. I have a 5 man team, and the Main account I like to swap in and out my Rogue and Cleric.
Works great so far.

So basically have each slot modifier with the multiple characters? Order does not matter?
i.e.
targetexact [shift] Masterblasterz
targetexact [shit] Mage2
and so on?

I'm going to have to play around with this tonight. I was swapping out toons yesterday and running them through LFG for exp/loot and i was thinking I could use all 5 of my rogs to level up my 5 clerics. The loot my high level was getting in the cashe were nice upgrades for him. SO basically I would run 5 runs a day, swapping out one bard each time.
How many toons will fit in a single macro? I would need 10 for this to work right.
To clarify, I was running 4 low level clerics through LFG with one fo my 45ish rogs. SO the runs would be 45 Rog + 4 clerics..changing a rog/cleric each run

I have 11 toons in one of my FTL macros so I could swap all my rogues into my mage team and vice versa. It prints warnings about a toon not being found but you can safely ignore those.

One last question, in Rift ,ISBoxer cannot pass actual macros to the game in the same way as it was possible in WoW? All that can be done in Rift is send a keypress to Rift where the macro is then a keybind for that character? Correct?

Correct, the ISBoxer add-on for WoW makes that possible. Until RIFT implements such features into their
add-on API you'll have to create the macros in-game. The same functionality may actually already be in
RIFT now that they have allowed add-ons but, I think Lax is currently busy with projects that are higher
priority.

Order matters. You have to have the "targetexact" lines with just one modifier first in the list (e.g. "[shift]"), the ones with two modifiers after that (e.g. "[shift] [ctrl]"). This is probably because the macro doesn't use the "nomod" modifiers that BettySue wrote about. If we start to use that, perhaps order won't matter at all any more.
However, it doesn't matter in which order you have duplicate lines where only the name is changed.

Does the suppressmacrofailure thing work on the messages?
I don't have a suppress in mine, I like to see if a member doesn't join.
I do use it all over the place in combat macros though.

Dang, too bad this is WoW syntax and not supported in Rift. :/ Would've been nice, but it just doesn't work in Rift.

A side note to using multiple toons for the follow command regardless of team. I ran into the 25 line macro limit, what I tried to do was put every toon from all 5 accounts into a single follow macro. This meant 30 toons in total and that gave 30 lines plus 2 more lines for the follow and target last commands
I presume there is no way to run the follow commands in a single long macro line?

No, that's only in WoW. In Rift, you can't even put a name after /follow.

So things have been working a lot better but I am having an issue with assist using slot 4 and 5 with the modifiers.
What I have been doing is running two toons with the modifiers below due to the slots normally being part of the 5 man team. The below works for following but assist is not working with the assist code below. Any ideas?
targetexact [shift] [alt] Healingways
targetexact [ctrl] [shift] Holyhands
follow
targetlasttarget
assist [shift] [alt] Healingways
assist [ctrl] [shift] Holyhands

Just to make sure, the two toons are grouped, right? Because /assist doesn't work otherwise...

Have you tried executing just the assist macro on a stand-alone keypress, just as a test? Like hitting 'k' to execute the macro?
crowdx
10-20-2011, 04:43 PM
would it work with the key modifiers?
I can get a regular assist to work fine, i.e. assist Healingways

If you enable the "Use FTL Modifiers" checkbox (or whatever it's called) in your new mapped key, it will use the modifiers.

yeah, that is the part that is not working correct. I have use FTL mdoifiers selected. The weird part is with the full 5 man team using the same setup (i.e. main tank with 4 followers, the followers all assist the tank) it all seems to work. It is only when I drop the first 3 slots and try to box with slots 4 and 5 OR using the same modifiers for slot 1 and 2, it seems broken at that point. The follow command works fine though ???

Can you create a new team in ISB just as a test and see them both work or is it only your current ISB config?

Yeah, that's why I suggested trying to make a whole new mapped key and try it stand-alone. There could be something wrong in how you're using the assist in your current method.

Ok, found the issue, classes with pets have their default keybinds set to the same as what my assist was set to, I had set assist as 1. Changing the pet keybinds fixed the issue.
Thanks for the help :)
