Been playing rift since release but with just one character at a time.

Started with Rogue, went through T2s on him back before the expert dungeon nerfage.
Swapped over to Mage but on another account as I figured I would box some day. He is in R1 gear (just starting HK).
Cleric level 40 (been leveling up when I need a change of pace).

So basically I need to level up 2 more chars. As it turns out though I'm pretty clueless on warriors and clerics. I Power leveled the cleric so don't really know much about them. (Basically tag the mob, kill with the lvl 50 in one or 2 shots) get full exp.

I'm thinking just from what I have seen in grouping that warrior tank brings the most tools for tanking, and might macro well. And another mage can't hurt to double chloro if needed or just go pyro since that spec is so easy to play now.

That would make my team

Warrior, cleric, rogue, mage x2.

So I would need to level up a warrior /mage duo then pick up the cleric at 40 and probably the whole team around 45.

What are the thoughts on the easiest tank to 5 box with from those that have done it? I've done all the experts with all 3 tanks, but seems from my perspective warriors have it a bit easier in terms of agro, yanking mobs to them, etc.

My cleric tank (granted, he's only 39) has been awesome at getting AoE aggro and keeping it easily when blowing up packs of mobs in instances.

Clerics are very powerful. They kind of remind me of a WOW paladin.

My main experience though is with warrior. Haven't multiboxed Rift yet... Long story. But warriors are definetly lowest on the totem pole. No self healing and always in melee range against mobs with terrible AOE's. Well you know.

Outside of raiding. A cleric would probably trump a warrior in every area.

Warrior Reavers has a some AoE and self healing. Warrior Paladin has the full-heal-long-cooldown skill like WoW paladins have (IIRC). Together, it seems to provide a ton of AoE aggro.

I haven't tried a cleric tank yet, but what AoE aggro do they have? Except DoL, which I've heard makes everyone angry at you. Perhaps Reparation is the thing that gives a steady flow of AoE aggro?

Reparation + AoE taunt (Righteous Imperative) every 60 secs + they have Mein of Leadership which grants +450/90/100% to threat/endurance/armor, respectively. Once they have threat, you just about can't pull 'em off. I do tend to rip AoE aggro if I blow too many AoEs on the alts but only if I do it too soon or if Righteous Imperative is down.

I suspect Reaver DoTs spreading around might be slightly better at sustained AoE aggro but I don't have enough experience with mine to really say for sure.

The Reaver/Paladin warrior has a ton of AoE taunt skills too, if the AoE DoTs aren't enough... But I'll see this weekend how the cleric tank is. :)

Thanks for the tips/thoughts.

I think I'll level 3 chars warrior/mage/mage with warrior on same account as the cleric and then swap over to the cleric at 40, and go with cleric for now as tank. If it doesn't work out or not ideal I can always lvl the warrior rest of way.

Now the next question is for ranged dps should I go mage x3 or through in another cleric?

Again I have no experience with cleric really , but seems the option to go multiple chloros would be nice, and SC would be pretty easy to manage aoe dps. Pyro is really easy to manage single target dps.
