I read a reply on another forum saying you could run rift directly without steam needing to be loaded.

So one possible solution would be buy gift copies, then make dummy steam accounts on another pc and gift them all over. Once you setup the logins, never use those accounts again and just log into rift directly.

Though it might be worth mentioning, if something were to flag internally for steam and get your account locked for moving that many copies at once, dealing with customer service is a headache. I purchased a gift once on a separate account from my main, and it got locked after the charge went through ok. It took about 4 days of messaging them with day wait response times between to get the account unlocked. Since then I tend to avoid buying unless its something I really want or at a huge discount for the summer/christmas sales.

Yep you are right. If you buy the game off Steam you can just use the Rift installer under account management to install and play. Also allows you to intall to another drive and not get locked into whatever drive you have Steam on.

One per customer? I did not know that Ugh. Guess it would be feasable to make multiple Steam accounts for the codes. Wonder if that applies to buying it as a gift? Ah well sales over anyway =(
