View Full Version : Possible price drop for wow + expansions?

Earlier today when I was at Wal-Mart I noticed there were no copies of WoW on the shelf or any of the expansions. Only time cards for sale there. The last time I noticed something like this was about 2 weeks before TBC was made part of the base wow client where it vanished off the shelves there.

I checked online and Wrath is only listed as ship to store/home now, and Cata is listed as $20 from the next closest store to me. It is also $20 on Amazon right now. The base game is listed as low stock at the other store and ship to store/home like Wrath for the others.

Maybe Blizzard is feeling worried about the $100 upfront start cost to get Cata with TOR and GW2 coming out and is going to package a new Battle Chest with Wrath and possibly Cata.

I know none of this is solid evidence, but if anyone was looking to buy to get started for 4.3 soon, you might want to hold off a bit and see how things go over the next couple weeks.

Black Friday is 60 days away. If there are any price drops on Vanilla/Wrath prior to that I would be surprised
(and happy). I realize that WoW is also played in regions which don't recognize "Black Friday" but, I would
imagine that they'd base price drops near or around that date.

In our country - Czech Republic, we don´t have "black friday". In fact every game store is selling vanilla wow and tbc for about 20 $. Somehow they don´t reflect, that tbc is not needed anymore. But I hope, that the special offer which blizzard made last year with selling wow for 5$, will be also this year. I need to buy 4 more cata exp.

They really can not go for another expansion and still expect to get new players to fork up for old expansions, price for anything but the latest expansion needs to be symbolic if they want to keep attracting new players. Even for returning players some might think a few times if they are more than 1 expansions behind and have to fork up for old expansions they will just level thru and not even bother doing dungeons or raids in.

In good ol EverQuest you get original game aswell as all previous expansions (on exansion 17 atm) when you buy the latest expansion, not that they have a influx of new players :) but they do have some that come back to try it out.

Isn't Black Friday USA only? Or atleast I can't think of any European country that has a black friday.

(Yes, I am aware the world is bigger then the USA and Europe)

I would assume it's most regions that actually celebrate Thanksgiving.

I lived in a number of countries (france, japan, australia,..) and had never heard of black friday before.

Or... you could just pay Apple double the price (http://store.apple.com/us/product/TY129LL/A?cid=AOS-US-SHOPIP-Google) of what Blizzard charges for a Battlechest. I mean, isn't that
how everything tied to Apple works? (Link courtesy of Crum)

For those of you in the U.S. (or who play the U.S. client) who cannot wait, Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Wrath-Lich-Expansion-Mac/dp/B000VJTJNE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317217497&sr=8-1) has been showing Wrath of
the Lich King for $30 (instead of $40) since yesterday. (Link courtesy of Gurb)

I would expect something to lure people in with great deals before Christmas. One because of the holiday of course. The second because SWTOR is coming out Dec 20Th and every MMO I've seen is probably panicked. Of course there's no WOWkiller nonsense - but they'll lose more subs and money like every other MMO will. Their loss will be our advantage! I'll probably pick up some Cata's when they get around 20$ again.

People generally only have time for one MMO you know and everyone is going to be trying SWTOR that I know. Just look at the pre-order sales. Not trying to derail th thread or anything. Just pointing out another possible reason for such good deals and possible lower prices in the future.

If there is a black Friday sale, is it possible to buy WoW in anticipation of RAFing an account at some unknown future date? Or do you have to create the new account in order to buy it?

If there is a black Friday sale
There has never not been a WoW Black Friday sale. Almost everything in America is on sale that day.

is it possible to buy WoW in anticipation of RAFing an account at some unknown future date? Or do you have to create the new account in order to buy it?
Last year, you had two choices when ordering: Either buy a physical copy and have it shipped to you via
UPS or buy a digital copy and get the code e-mailed to you.
