View Full Version : [WoW] Formation?

I'm trying out trials for dual boxing software because I've become intrigued with multi boxing, I saw a hunter on a trial account max level 20 with 5 hunters in a square formation with his hunters following him in this formation. Yet every single trial I come across doesn't have formation for anything like that. When I move all the characters move but some become out of sync or line and walk away from the group. /follow is fun and all but if they get frozen to ground and I move they stop following and its a pain for pvp.
Anyway to get them to walk in a formation line or triangle or w/e shape? Just so they dont go out of synce and they all move together.

Nope. No matter how perfect your camera angles are they will fall out of sync. This is exactly why every
multiboxer you see in World of Warcraft use /follow.

Strictly speaking, you can make them move in formation under the following conditions:
1. You run (with them on follow) in a straight line for a long ways so they all line up behind you pointing the same exact direction.
2. You only use the move forward/backward and strafe/left/right keys to adjust them into formation.
3. You only use the move forward/backward and strafe/left/right keys to move them around while in formation.
I do this at times but it really only works
A) if you line them up very well first,
B) for relatively short distances, and
C) pretty much falls apart if you're lagging or if you're pushing lots of movement buttons on and off.
and
D) you're not in a laggy capital city.
In short, don't expect much.
Find a nice open area, run your main forward/backward for 20 seconds or so to line them up, split left/right into formation and try moving them with the broadcasted forward/back/strafe keys and see how it does.

Hi Riico :)
part of the fun ( challenge etc) of this multiboxing thing is discovering ways to do these type of formations etc..and mostly it comes down to keybinds etc..
i'll put here a link to my very old old site that i made years ago..when i had not long started..and ignore most of my macros etc..as these were ancient and i was just starting out.
http://www.freewebs.com/multiboxing/macros.htm
.but...i did put up on this page i link a couple of short vids where you see..follow normal and follow each other..
where follow normal everyone bunches up and follows master...or everyone follows the next slave..and this makes a spread follow
and also a short vid at the bottom..that shows a master in the center then the slaves move to the side in 2 steps to form a line
the way to do this..bearing in mine i used keyclone at the time too..but that dosent effect the result..
note first press walk toggle to make this work best..in run mode they spread to far..
main master uses w,s,a,d to move..slaves have wsad unbinded..and they use arrow up,arrow down, arrow left and arrow right to move..
this way..when they follow and you stop and get them into a formation..main can stand still..while slaves can be moved with arrow keys..or ( i use 5 to multibox) all can use arrow keys to move at same time..
to spread in a line...i had my keybinds set as the following...out of 5 i run my main as the 3rd ...main 3rd..2,1,4,5..always have lol
so main is in the middle..i then press insert and delete which are bound to slave 2 and 1 ..but unbinded to master and 4 and 5
when pressed this makes 2 and 1 step 1 step away from main to the side...so you get this...1 3 2
then i pressed [ key on 4 and ] on 5.these are unbinded on the others ..and you have to press 2 times or more so they spread away from main further..so you get...4 1 3 2 5
and this gives you the line out..you can then press arrow keys to move slaves in line with main..and you can then press on arrow keys and all will run forward in this formation..
this seems a huge explanation for something we do without thinking..but i try to explain it the best i can..
heres the link or ill try link the vids here..
spread sideways video
cVvvl_xnPXs
normal follow and spread follow
hmmm cant get the second one to show here..so here is link on old website..if you wish to view..

ps..you can run in line spread a bit..but when you turn..it may come undone..i mainly used it for lining up at vendors or ah ..or for when you get those people never seen multiboxing and ask you to do a bit of a display lol..
anyway hope that helps a little riico :)

With my 5 shaman team I like to spread them out in a line, drop totems, lightning shield, /cheer, /dance. Its quite impressive to those that haven't seen multiboxers before.

Brain cells start popping like popcorn when you do this in a capital city. Some people just cannot grasp the concept. :) Great fun, indeed.

Would of been nice if you posted some sort of example, I have been searching the website for 45 minutes looking for some way to manage formations on my shammies. If anyone knows how to spread them out, via macro or something, please let me know. Thanks.
I am using Pwnboxer + Jamba
I am also having a bit of trouble with characters not facing the mob that the master is facing, making them unable to cast, which is annoying.

Using IS Boxer...
A two-step mapped key.
Hold keystrokes, while hotkey is held.
Step one.
Sends Q to two toons.
Sends E to two toons.
Step two.
Send Q to one of the initial two toons.
Send E to one of the latter two toons.
Middle toon does not move.
If you don't have the equivalent of "steps", where different presses of the same key result in different actions.
Then go with two hotkeys, one sending the keybind to several toons.
And one to fewer toons.
Or set a primary and secondary keybind for strafe.
But set them differently across your toons, so you can move some but not others.
