I've always wondered how much of a difference multiboxers would have made back in the day in games like
this AV.

I found that pic in this Reddit post (http://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/kbxfz/just_found_an_awesome_screen_shot_of_a_10_hour_av/) a few days ago and I figured I'd share. If Blizzard ever opened up a
Vanilla server I could easily see myself rolling a team (or even solo) so that I could take part in those old
school epic AVs.

Back when there was no timer and no resources? Games went on for hours.... I think i literally spent all saturday in an AV game. I kinda miss those days, but with kids around i'm kinda glad i can get in and out as i need to.

i remember AV going on for a entire weekend, the raid bosses summoned, the druids, some big ass boss that would roll through and kill everyone in sight, we would have to pull that big ass thing back to Drek to have him kill it because nobody else would be able too.

So fun, i wish they would bring something like that back instead of the instant gratification type battlegrounds.

woah! thats serious. Either that was organized honor farming, or some really horrible players. Ive never seen a game last an entire weekend.

I have been through many games that lasted 2-3 hrs. I cant even fathom a 48 hr game.

really? you dont remember that? it was when av first came out, i would join a game on saturday, quit, do stuff, come back sunday and it would be the same game, av took soooo long. i loved it.
There was tons in that battleground, prolly still is with all the extras, wind riders, summonings.
I imagine they are all still there but the games dont last long enough to get to see them.

Hehee those AV games where fun.. i played Argent Dawn EU allie we had like 90% of the server so we got like 1 AV a week that lasted like 30 hours haha so stupid.. was fun tho

I recall many, many times when people would be complaining in Org general chat that we didn't have enough tanks or healers to kill the boss(es) in AV. And how people were laughing about logging out of an AV Friday night and logging back in to the same game still going on Sunday.

Wasn't playing back then, but I'd love to experience the feel of it. Though I doubt it would be a good thing for the game. Maybe having the regular AV the way it is, and have a couple mega AV's going as well where you can queue up for specifically would do the trick.

oh lord. old school AVs.

there was nothing like it. back in the days, I figured out there were Rich Thorium node spawning for each side every 30mins. I was in the AV for 2 days without sleeping. Got my 1st arcanite reaper from AV. Then 2 days later, my friend (who were 3+ days without sleeping) got the stupid knock down hammer (unstoppable force).

and who said we were fighting in AV, we were all LOOTING, remember ? 1 guy went down. 10 guys jumped up to loot.
good times.

Also on the raid boss in AV, I remember druid can kite him to the capitain. and he drops loot too. so we were fighting over the loot in AV. classic.

people complain that wow pvp sucks. but that's due to 5 years of playing it. No other pvp in any other game provided me with the old school AV experience.

those were the days when you had 40x2 people waiting in the AV tunnels in Alterac Mountains to enter the AV game, and the massive Southshore-Tarren Mill fights in between.

It wasn't all great, but there was alot of fun, that's for sure.

Its all still there. During my first AV weekend earlier this year we summoned the icelord several times and each time we did it was like "Ohhhhhh what is this" from several players. One game we stopped killing alliance players just for the lols of him hitting their zerg.

And the diffent groups... you needed to invite people manually into a raid.
If some jerks didnt know you, you had to form a new group or just play alone lol.
Thank god they fixed that at least.
My longest game i can remember was around 12 hours...

And if you left before the end (or joined in the nick of time :- ) you missed all the extra honor for killing the bosses

man shamans would have rocked back then... back when chain lightning jumps didnt lose damage and hit 4 targets lol.

Would have been way overpowered.

EDIT: And ret pallies were unheard of because they were terrible!

Unstoppable force + windfury proc = dead opponent. That shit was crazy.

yeah i farmed reputation with AV for like 5 days straight to get that bad boy. Only thing better was Ragnaros...

Also do the mats dissappear after you zone out of AV, so you have to start back over when entering another one?

they used to disappear (i guess they still do ) To avoid people stacking them and then summoning the bosses right at the start of a new game

danm, no way the games gonna last long enough to summon them...
Unless i can manage to turn AV into a turtle fest...
And if anyone could do it, it'd be a multiboxer.

Are there still quests to kill the bosses and collect stuff in AV? I remember when the weapon you got from that quest was the best you'd get until you farmed heroics or raids.

Yes the turn ins are still there, just no way you will get enough before game is over.

i tried to do the wolf rider summons last night, i got 8 hides from rams and the game was over, i would have gotten more but i couldn't loot half the ones i killed because the rest of the raid was too close and it's not on ffa.
I guess that part of the game died too.
I thought i would have enough time because i caused a turtle situation, went galv and killed a ton of them and went back and back capped everything.
But still wasen't enough time, i was a longer game too, lasted about 30 minutes.
And the hides disappeared when i got out of the game :(

Yeah and the blood turn ins would be worse, unless the whole team participated.
