Hi all,
I used to 5 box in Wotlk using 2 machines: 1 account on my main machine and 4 on my second.
I also remember still playing 5 toons (gnome team) in the early weeks of wow 4.0.

I've stopped playing since, but just created 3 trial accounts and started them on my second machine, and the performace is now really bad. It was never perfect (couldnt go in towns with all toons together for example) but it worked.
Now, i can't even play it because the performance is so low.

I've noticed that there has been some changess in the WoW video options. For example the directX dropdown (only shows 9 in my case) and the fact that we can't fully disable shadows.
I've set all video setting to 'low' but with no success.

i tried with set fps to 30/10 and 20/20 but with no visible change

The machine is an old Duo CPU E7300 @2.66GHz with 2Gb, but before you say anything, it used to run 4 on TBC/Wotlk.
now it can't run 3 :(

Any suggestions?
Upgrade is a no-no at the moment. Just want to know what i can tweak or install to help.

Cheers,
Zub

Well, can't seem to make this work, on both machines i can only play one toon at the time.
Oh well, I guess this will provide me with alot of free time ;-)

there was another similar topic (http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=45346) posted by someone else (after me I believe), but I don't recall posting this question before.

Memory requirement per client is 600-800 MB, up to 1GB in crowded areas. Add 1-2 GB for your operating system.

I believe you can still turn off shadows with command line inputs. Search google for some /console commands that turn off shadows and ghost effect when dead. Also get the water detail down to a min, thats a real killer.

I was thinking of perhpas upgrading but instead we've decided to go spend 6 weeks of holiday in France for christmas. 2adults+2kids there goes $10k and bye bye computer upgrades lol ;-)

Yes - requirements did go up with Cata, and even more after the fireland patch hit the server.

3 tings that happend for me:

1. Every loadet game now use around 700-800Mb of ram
2. Cpu that used around 80% load (wolk) - was now hitting the roof 98-100% (Fireland patch)
3. Gpu (GeForce GT 220) was running on max load - big drop in framerate - where I use to have 30+ FPS on main
was some time dropping to under 20 FPS

I did try everyting to get it running, low setting, removing addon, DirectX etc. But for for me nothing seem to change,
I could hear the computer start to work over time when the 5th account was getting loadet.

When running 4 account only, I was getting close to Wolk feeling of boxing. (Use ISboxer 5 account 1 computer)

A new computer (Intel® Core™ i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 16GB ram, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580) was the way i did fix it. Is now running with 60+ FPS on main :)

Thanks for the update.
