Hi all,
Since there's a fair number of people here that are developers (or at least in the software industry) , is anyone building phone apps?
What would be the best way to give an app more visibility?

I've submitted review requests to some app review websites etc, and keep valid signatures on the various forums i frequent. Also have some ads on my other websites and all.
I made a free (limited) version as well as the full (paid) version.

Not sure what else to do,
any suggestions?

cheers
Zub

Try hitting up some high profile review sites like CNET and Gizmodo to name a few. Also, create a facebook page for the app and invite away! You can also look for people having a problem that your app solves on sites like ASK and YahooAnswers, and post your app as a possible solution to their problem.

Then there is always paid advertising, but that is a whole different beast.

You can also try doing email spam blast, but you need to be careful about that.

Word of mouth will probably be your biggest pushing point early in the game until your development studio/name gets a larger following base.

Thanks Crum,
I have a facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/pages/The-Forest-Maker/239185082772075)ready, but not thatmany FB friends ;-(
I'll try the sites you mentioned and look for a few more, at the moment i sent requests to appalicious/androidTapp/bestandroidapps/etc

My app is a game, so it doesn't really solve anybody's problems, apart perhaps brain numbness hehe
I want to stay away from paid adverts at the moment, i have a friend who had a bad experience with that
