Hey there multiboxers,

I started multiboxing awhile ago, but never got any team to max level. I'm looking to get back into it, and have some questions:

1) Would gearing up your team with pvp gear at 85 be a really good way to get them decked out painlessly? It seems like that would be easy, but not sure how badly ilvl 371 pvp gear would gimp you for, say, running heroics.

2) I'm hoping to level a ranged team, and I'm kind of torn between the standard pally + 4 shamans (have pally at 85) or something involving mages (since people have been blowing up targets with arcane mages a lot recently). What would ya recommend?

3) Has anyone successfully leveled their own guild with a 5 man team by running instances? That could be pretty cool, too.

That's all I got for now, thanks for any input you want to provide!

1) PvP gear is good, and apparently there are some that do PvE content in PvP gear, but I think the general consensus is that PvE gear is better as resilience is a wasted stat in PvE even if you can reforge some of it.
2) IMHO it's easier with a 3-4 shaman team as with 3/4x healing stream totems takes a bit of the healing troubles away. Once you get the healing down pat, it's not that difficult.
3) I've leveled a guild to 9 or was it 10 now. So it is possible. Not sure if anyone has managed max yet.

If you plan to Dungeon grind or do quests, skip the PVP gear. The gear is missing stats, for Resil, and as Atrocious pointed out, you gain nothing. Totally not worth it. While leveling, if you decide to get a change of pace, and want to do some Ran BGs, you will be fine with the PVE gear, given the majority of the weekend or occasional PVPer is leveling with you. Only when you hit the 80-85 are you going to want to get some PVP gear if you plan on doing frequent BGs. Otherwise, you'll (like many others), will level past your own gear.

Your group make up doesnt really matter much, minus a tank healer, and some dps. if you like ranged, then there ya go.

As for your guild, if you plan to solo level your own guild, its going to take a while. I believe the last numbers I saw (months ago), were something like, "if you were to max out your daily guild exp each week, you are looking at somewhere around 4 months to get to level 20."

The pvp gear for dps/healer that is available from honor will make you outgear most heroic dungeons by far. Even if it makes you lose other valuable stats. Running AV for a week will grant you quite some pvp gear. It will definitely make things easier (the stamina & int for example are much higher on 371 pvp gear than on 346 pve pieces). However it's not ideal. Over time you can gradually start to replace the pvp bits with drops and badge pve gear.

My suggestion: scan wowhead, and make a gear route. What pieces are easy to obtain from AH, from rep vendors, from crafting, what useful items are drops from the easiest pve hc bosses, tol barad stuff, etc ... this way you'll have a good idea about what you miss.

For your tank it's a big no no to use pvp gear (although with some smart reforging you might get away with a couple of pieces).

Thank you all for the replies :-)

Luckily, my tank is well geared already, so that will help a bit. I sort of like the idea of running AV for awhile (because it's painless and straightforward), and then replacing what I can with PvE gear as I start heroics.

If your raffing the dpsers, go shammys and make mages too.

Im now levelling my shammys, got bored with the mages, and good part is you can mix the teams up too, mage or 2, shammy etc.

My other set is mage, boomie, hunter and priest healer. I dont tank, my fiance does that while I use the other 4 toons.

Sometimes I add in a mage or 2, or at times use all 5 mages, depends what I am doing, mount farming etc I use mages + my main hunter too leech the mounts if/when they drop.

Shammys are handy if 1 dies, it can reincarnate as well. And if you need extra boost heals all chain heal and so on.

Level a few sets if your raffed everyone here always recommends doing it and its truely worth while down the track.

Also look at the macros and 2 step macro as well, awesome for mixed classes in your team for easy dps

As for Guild Leveling - for reference, I have leveled 5 teams to 60 and one team to 80 so far, mostly quests and instances (getting the weekly guild challenges done) and I'm only 80% to level 3 for my guild.
