Looking for opinions on tanks for pve teams - what you play and what you like about them. I have a 50 warrior and like playing her solo, but not sure if I'll go warrior or cleric for my 5 man group. So far I'm thinking war/cleric heals/3x mages or cleric/4x mages for more simplicity/less classes to sync up.
Please feel free to post thoughts, opinions, theorycrafting, wild guesses, whatever :)

are we talking about wow or eq? if wow, i prefer a paladin as a tank, they are so versatile.

This post is in the Rift forums, so neither.

Oops, sorry about the confusion - game in question is indeed Rift.
It seems that Cleric tanks playstyle is the most similar to Wow paladins, but I don't have experience with cleric tanks so I'd like to hear what others think of their team comps so far.

i have a 50 warrior and a 47 cleric. i so for i have found the warrior with right spec easier to play they both do a good job of tanking just found that a warrior with lest some in the reaver soul for the dots the easiest to pull and get agro on all the mobs.
found this web page a good spot for warrior tanking info .http://ciderhelm.com/?p=165
i'm running (1.3 Recommended Build for Experts (Threat, Support & Mitigation).
I have tanked all of T1 and most of T2 with that build been in a guild group not multi boxing. i have managed to do about half or so of T2 stuff but been lvl diffident teams not working on experts much

I did Justicar + 4 mages and cleared all the experts. Relatively easy playstyle, and was fun. Justicar tanking is pretty simple, Even Justice on aoe trash packs, simple rotation on single targets, if you get adds or loose a mob - Doctrine of Loyalty spam will pretty much pull them to you.

If I can remember, I'll repost here when I get my rogue tank up in levels. I've gotten a warrior and cleric up to the mid-20s and they both tank very well so far.

i think warrior is pretty much the easiest to macro plus lower cds on pull skill 8 seconds compaired to 1min on rebuke. alos spotters order will boost party dps alot on boss fights and they have very easy managable aoe threat i run a 12 reaver 44 pally 12 warlord for experts and it does great. with battlefield awarness buff spotters order is the best ingame spamable aoe threat skill. 1 attack point spotters is same threat as 3 ap spotters so start of a pull i do 1ap spotters 1 ap spotters then go through my normal rotation. I never lose agro ever this way.
