Ok so after 7 years of MMOs and countless hours of fun. I have decided to quit WoW cold turkey. By that I mean delete my characters, remove all websites I visit for WoW and pick up new hobbies. I'm doing this not because I hate the game. I actually still like playing. This is more a realization that my excessive play has made me a one dimensional person.

I have nothing interesting to say in most my conversations with friends, whom do not play video games. I want to be more interesting and to do that I need to have more varied interests that I can talk about. No one in my social circles cares about my epics, and most of them can't really grasp what I'm talking about.

So it's been a blast. I loved PvPing with you all, and sometimes PvE, but I gots to go! With that said I will log in tomorrow and pass out any items and gold that I have. See you tomorrow for the last time I will be on WoW and really any MMO. Later!

Good luck with your new life!

And I hope you won't see my reply, since this is a wow/mmo website.
If you DO read this reply, then SHAME ON YOU :-)

Well shoot multibocks. Part of me is sad to see you go, but the other part is happy to see you going for something you want. Just be careful, replacing WoW with other social activities such as watching Midget Pr0n may not be a good topic starter. :D

Some ppl are able to have a good social life, and some dont. A friend of mine was crazy addicted to wow for several years, school grades went down, never ever went out clubbing, no girlfriend, no nothing! But one day he quit, and got his life back on track, now hes lost weight, more social then ever, and its great to see him loving himself again.

I see WoW as a hobby now, something fun that I do beside school, work, workout and chores. And Ive found a balance between social life and WoW. It wasnt allways like this thou, back in TBC it was an addiction. Skipped classes cus I was up raiding all night, and GF was raging all the time cus of WoW.

We are different, and if this is what it takes for Multibocks to get on with his life, I say go for it! GL with the rest of your life :)

Regards Sebastian

Do not give up something you enjoy to try and fit in some mythological social order. You get one shot at life and if you enjoy playing wow thats all that matters. In your effort to fit in you will be cutting off part of who you are. Big mistake friend! I think you are quiting for all the wrong reasons. If you do decide to quit I would strongly suggest you not delete the characters.

Yes and no, I see your point. But I enjoy smoking, the feeling of a good smoke after a nice meal, the first cup of coffee in the morning on my balcony with a marlboro, ... still I want to stop smoking cause it's bad for health and it costs me a fortune (over the course of 10y it's a nice 2nd hand porsche I smoked away). If I could smoke 3 cigs a day I would probably keep doing it, but unfortunately I can't control how much I smoke as long as I keep doing it. So throwing cigs away seems to be the only solution. There is to some extend a parallel and smoking for some people.

I say you need better friends.

Jokes aside, I have 4 kids, one is 4 wks old this week. I used to play every night 2-3 hrs a night. I currently play maybe 2-3 hrs a week. I have plenty of social activities, and plenty of input into conversation...but there was a time where I didnt. I believe in balance in everything in life. Play, Social, Work, Family... Play doesnt have to be cut, just a diffent kind of play for you to be happy.

And thats the ultimate goal. Make yourself happy in your surroundings. Me personally, Id rather spend 2-3 hrs a week or even a night, upstairs on a computer, drinking kool-aid while the kids sleep, than at a bar gettin drunk. My wife like it that im safe at home, and shes ok with me having a little nerdy side.

IDGAF about what my friends think to the point I let it alter my life. If they dont like it, I need better supporting friends.

7 yrs is a while. and clearly understandable with that point alone. GL HF, try not to wipe in RL... there is no Aggro reset.

Sounds like a wise decision. Good luck with all the spare time! :D

I fail to see how people can think there's an option it's not a good choice.

Multi,

I understand the sentiment but it will be a bummer to see you go. We got the new BH boss down five times in the last two days as a guild, so we continue to have fun.

Your realization about other things in life is a good one and it sounds like you should take an indefinite break. The only thing I'd encourage you to consider is not deleting all your toons. There was some good time and effort put into those resources that you made and I think it would be a shame to throw that away. It sounds like you may not be back, and that's totally fine, but you never know what the future holds. Doesn't cost you anything to have your digital selves in the cryo chamber instead of in the graveyard.

But whatever you decide I wish you all the best and hope you enjoy your new experiences as much as if not more than you enjoyed your time with WoW.

LOL damnit no one online to give away stuff! Gave some of it to guild bank, the big payout I will try later. So be on tonight if you want a share of the 700k gold. Or be square or something.

Already deleted every toon except mages, sorry merc!

LOL doh!

I wont put in writing what Id like to convey, because its frowned upon in most establishments. yet... you could seek alternate methods to "recoup" you time and "investments". Maybe put you in a good spot to have freedom to purchase some new activity stuff.

(wink)

I wonder what 700K and some mages would cost someone in the real world?

I understand the feeling. I slowed down my playing a lot over the last year. Then there were a few months when i could not play due to a relocation and loss of all my worldly belongings ( including my PC ) It was then that i realized this is what I love to do. I do other things as well, but I enjoy gaming more than most of it. I feel guilty from time to time as most of my family and friends think I'm wasting my life. But If i enjoyed other things as much as this, I would do those things more.

So my point is never do things just to please others or to fit in. be yourself, and be happy 8) Just be responsible ( work.. pay your way etc. ) If anything you do, games or otherwise, keeps you from being responsible, than thats when you need to quit.

Good luck with your change, I hope its for the best and wish you all the best in life!

It's not to late for a Blizzard restore! I think your making a huge mistake. If your friends have problems with your mmo then you need new friends. Do what makes you happy not what you think makes others happy. Have you considered how this effects your online friends? Just saying.

The whole Delete thing is symbolic. It's a step he has taken. Let him do it.
Everybody knows Blizzard will restore everything in a heartbeat if he ever wanted to come back.

For some, playing 2-3 hours a weeks lacks the great feeling of achieving anything significant. that's where you start adding too many hours and then start feeling bad about it.
Lets face it, WoW (like any MMO) is desgned to be a time-sink. And that's exactly what it does, and it's the best at what it does.

If you want to keep playing, keep playing. If you want to quit, quit ;-)

I'll follow you ;)

Cancelled subs on my 10 accounts today, haven't been really in mood for farming or anything.
I was playing only like 6 hours a week, so 24 hours in a month for 129.90 eur, that's a tad expensive ;)

Going to enable Crossfire and enjoying the other games for now on.
