Congratulations! I haven't played my 3s team since last season.

So far, I've focused on my 5s team with +1 Holy Paladin and +1 Disc Priest + 3 Dual Wield Frost DKs. This is working great for us and have got to 1901 rating. We haven't hit a wall yet and I think we can make a real push for 2.2K this season.

Do you mainly still follow your strategies you outlined in your post last season?

I have adapted my strats and targets since there is no real usage for hungering cold (you always get interrupted in 3's)... also i think 2h is better including for 5's. But i will get the 2200 weps sometime this season and try them out. I'm just sitting on 2200 and playing 5's for points and seriousness. Example of changed strat is pushing a bubble on paladin instead of stacking necrotics on a dk vs a TSG, waiting for bubble to go down to silence/hammer etc.

My other 2 dks are around 2k in 3's after losing 150 rating today because my healer had downs.

Yes! I would love to see videos of you owning #1 ranked teams.

Also, do you get any hate from teams you've beaten? I do on occasion. Mostly a bunch of trolls that threaten to report me. I tell them to go ahead and do it already! I'll be here next week to beat you again!

I got someone who logged over and was like "holy shit i never seen someone truck a holypally so hard"

But very little hate.

Btw those are past r1 players, their current teams are only around 2400 mmr.

Pretty sick... I've been using 3s to cap points if I don't get 5s in for the week. Good to know that you're still have success with 2+1 3s.

The wrathful gladiator SS is epic.

LOL! I watched one of your videos from today, about mid-way through this is the conversation

Paladin: Do you have an arena junkies account?
Shodokan: uh, yeah. I can't post in the gladiator forums
Paladin: Did you know you can stream?
Shodokan: uh, yeah. I'm streaming right now?
Paladin: haha, uh, what? *silence*
Shodokan: I have a stream up
Paladin: Ah, probably no one is watching it eh?
Shodokan: We had about 20 people watching it
Paladin: Silence

A while later he actually logs into arena junkies and confirms it is being streamed. I just thought this was hilarious :D

On serious note, I do have a few questions if you don't mind answering them.

I watched a lot of your recorded play.

How do you use chains of ice? I almost never have a frost rune available due to howling blast spam.

Do you have a DPS macro that blows all your cool downs?
Icebound fortitude, Pillar of Frost, Anti-magic shell, DPS Trinket.

When I try to make a kill, I use empower rune weapon + tazik shocker (4800 instant nature damage) and spam Obliterate and Frost Strike. Should I stack necrotics prior to doing this?

Do you ever use your Death Grip in a focus based macro? I tend to focus an annoying class such as a mage, hunter, or healer and keep them in my AoE range. That way they get damaged and interrupted.

I have a focus-based round robin blood tap + strangulate macro. When I use it, I smash the button and rely on the natural spinning of my toons to eventually face the target and silence my focus (usually a healer). Of course, this doesn't always work. Do you have better system?

When one of my DKs get low, I will use Pet Sacrifice + Lichborne + Death Coil from all DKs to heal the low DKs. This works very well, but it also kills my pressure and my DPS for those 10 seconds. Do you do something similar or better?

Do you conserve runic power before you try to burst some one down? I tend to conserve it prior to using Lichborne + Death Coil self healing.

I've been toying with the idea of a stealth necrotic strike against melee teams. For this, I would set my focus to a melee opponent that is in range while I train a different opponent such as a healer. My focus would be getting necrotic strikes. Once enough stacks are up, I instantly switch and smash my burst macro. Do you think this would work?

Lastly, do you use death coil much for a ranged attack? When I get rooted and all death grips are down, I can't do much other than howling blast, death and decay, and death coil. I suppose I could make a attack sequence that would do Howling Blast + Death Coil on a target at range to keep up pressure when I'm locked down.

Do you control your PvP trinket individually or just do both toons at the same time regardless? Anything else individually? (aside from round robin)

Daan do you use lichbourne, then target the low hp dk, then cast death coil?

daanji
08-02-2011, 03:38 AM
Yes. I use Grid + Clique + repeater regions in isBoxer.

When I get in trouble and my healer is eating a fear, I start spamming my self heal sequence. All of my DKs will set the low HP DK as their focus. As I spam, the DKs will do Death Strike, Sacrifice Pet, Lichborne, and Death Coil the low HP DK.

This works very well in 5s and 3s, often saving the DKs life.

Never unless i REALLY need to root something like a shaman

Yes

When I try to make a kill, I use empower rune weapon + tazik shocker (4800 instant nature damage) and spam Obliterate and Frost Strike. Should I stack necrotics prior to doing this?
In 3's you should do what your comp does best... damage. Stack necrots if you are against a target like a priest or shaman, straight up damage (frost as much as possible) vs stuff like druids and paladin

Do you ever use your Death Grip in a focus based macro? I tend to focus an annoying class such as a mage, hunter, or healer and keep them in my AoE range. That way they get damaged and interrupted.
Never, i use it to interrupt heals exclusively or to get back on a target.

I have a focus-based round robin blood tap + strangulate macro. When I use it, I smash the button and rely on the natural spinning of my toons to eventually face the target and silence my focus (usually a healer). Of course, this doesn't always work. Do you have better system?
Yes i do. I have a similar macro i put into my burst macro, when bursting i silence. So i just continue to mash that button and hope it comes out much like you. I plan to change it to something else though soon, i haven't refined a lot of stuff i should.

When one of my DKs get low, I will use Pet Sacrifice + Lichborne + Death Coil from all DKs to heal the low DKs. This works very well, but it also kills my pressure and my DPS for those 10 seconds. Do you do something similar or better?
How do you death col from all dks to 1 without focus? If that is possible i'd be glad to know. Also i would not do that i just do the healing from their own death coils and make sure to pop it all at once to get ALL toons up (from cleave damage etc) while my healer focuses on my most damaged target

Do you conserve runic power before you try to burst some one down? I tend to conserve it prior to using Lichborne + Death Coil self healing.
One howling blast basically gives you enough runic to frost strike, so i keep them built in together. I do not conserve for lichborne because if your healer is any good you should only need to use it under dire circumstances and the lost damage means you failed to output more pressure which could get you the win. The amount of howling blasts you can get from 4 frost runes is absurd, so just use that for 3 death coils.

Bad idea. You need all the damage and anti-healing vs the target you are pushing, the idea is to push a target and either get a kill or force defensive cooldowns from them + healers and then switch to healers if they are not your main target. A good example of this is me sitting on lock vs a spriest/lock/shaman team till the shaman pops NS on him, he teleports and a spirit link is dropped.

Awesome suggestion that i do not use. I normally played with a priest so now that i'm playing with a newly found friend (2900 glad paladin) i will incorporate this!

Do you control your PvP trinket individually or just do both toons at the same time regardless? Anything else individually? (aside from round robin)I will SOMETIME switch windows for things like sap etc, especially in 3's. But otherwise i just blow them all at once since i mostly use them as anti-aoe fear and anti-root.

Hope that helped.

Frost strike > howling blast > necrotic
Frost strike > oblit
Frost strike > death strike

but wouldnt having frost strike first not make the cast sequence not go through due to lack of RP at the beginning of the fight?

Its not a castsequence since its with Isboxer.
I think froststrike first is good actually since it will cast it if possible.

Id also like to add a thing to the Death Coil + Howling blas on range note, i have death coil added lowest on my priority bar, which results in that my dks throw DC when out of range from froststrike.
Good info overall :)

Noticed on your stream now, you have click to move + interact with target on your main aswell. I think that the control of the team dissapears bigtime when having it like that. Whats your thought on the matter? I play my main as ussual and only have slaves on CTM + IWT.

The control the team has? You are constantly going to be chasing targets, there is very little difference. I have all my toons stop in place when i hit the follow command with ISBoxer. So if i am in the middle of like... RoF they stop in place anyway. My healers tend to call out if i'm going to LoS and i just hit this button. Also if the melee target you are killing isn't moving.. hit the button.

Ok, i gues u have more diffrent rotations than what i play with aswell so i suppose the IWT on main might come in handy if u spam buttons like 1-5 etc much, i only play with one "dps button" that i press with my thumb on my mouse, something that makes it easy to keep moving with the main using WASD. Prob need to do something similar if im going for more diffrent rotations but so far it works quiet well :)

I also have IWT on my main screen. Although it can be annoying at times, I find it is better.

For example, I love that fact that my DKs will automatically turn around to run to a mage that just blinked backwards behind me.

Like Shodokan, I have a button that will make them stop moving. Very hand for Ring of Frosts. I stay in the center and just death grip people to me.
