This is really nice. Though $149 for collector's edtion is kinda high. /sigh. I am 1 mile from a Gamestop and it opens in 2 hours. I am going to go to the store first and pre-order. I like to have a physical receipt for pre-orders. If they don't know what they are doing, then I will order online.

Same here. Then again I never pre-order games because it's a good bet that even if it's a game I am anticipating, I wind up not playing it at the start for some reason or other. If my RL friends decide to get it I'll make sure to buy it then, and they're not the sort to pre-order either.

But it does look interesting and I'm hopeful that they'll create something that I'll want to play for a while.

I am not a huge star wars fan myself, I am interested in playing something along side of WoW. I still enjoy WoW but would like to immerse myself in a different world with different lore. I seen a youtube video of a bounty hunter(?) on tatooie, and honestly did not look that fun. the area seemed very basic in terms of things to do, lack of mobs, and just overall boring. Maybe it was just tatooie that is like that and other planets are far better. In the games defense, I only seen just that video and the trailer for the game. So I will do some more reading/watching and wait to see how the game turns out.

Just a question for those in the know about the game, do you need to have extensive star wars lore knowledge to play this game? Like do the quests assume you know about star wars already and do not give any lore info when you accept a quest? This is my main concern with this game, I really do not want to have to read up on the lore before I play a game in that universe. I like how WoW does its lore, through quest and not giving away too much lore at once. They like to string you along :P

I am pretty sure if you didn't know what an Ewok was, you would be fine, you would just find out later on that they were the same people in the Return of the Jedi. EVERY, EVERY quest in SWTOR is voiced. And it is made by Bioware that likes for its chars to chat on and on about stuff. So if you are interested in lore, you should be fine with just the game. I think you can just skip the voice part if you don't want to wait for the chars to tell you how they washed their laundry last week... "Quest: Find clean clothes." Or how they have a very special diet and haven't eaten so good since they were on the farm back on ...... "Quest: Collect tasty grubs."
They put it in a different time period than the movies, but it can't hurt to watch them to get the general stuff.

I played Aion to level 48. By the time I got there I was one of 10 Asmodians on my server that high that wasn't a bot. Tons of bots, terrible customer support. Had an awesome concept with fort sieges and what not. Ended up being lag central. Turned into a zerg game. Zerg to level 50 and zerg sieges. Waste of money.

I played Rift with two level 50s. Got stuck on a shitty server with terrible players. Couldn't fill a raid with people that have the right amount of chromosomes to save our lives. Waste of money.

SWTOR. I have atleast 2 or 3 friends i know of that are going to play it, but honestly, until it proves to me that I'll enjoy it more than WoW and I won't regret quitting WoW, then I refuse to buy it. Simple as that. That and I have never watched a star wars movie from beginning to end. Not really into Sci-Fi, although I find Asimov's work very interesting(I guess you could call that sci-fi).

I know a few things hehe. I did watch all the movies, but I am not "into" star wars like some people in the world. So I will just wait a a few or more months until the reviews come out, or should I say the "real" non-fanboy or WoW hating reviews come out.

thanks for the info and nice to see bioware making an MMO, although I would of hoped for a neverwinter nights MMO :P

Not saying all CE are sold out, but Origin's volume is. http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/714736/star-wars-the-old-republic-beta-weekends-starting-in-september-collectors-edition-already-sold-out/

It just made Yahoo as a trending topic: http://www.yahoo.com/_ylt=AtU.PblPFz1caV5NhWTeIFybvZx4;_ylu=X3oDMTNpMjN wZnBkBGNwb3MDMQRnA2lkLTM0NjAwMQRpbnRsA3VzBGx0eHQDU 3RhciBXYXJzOiBUaGUgT2xkIFJlcHVibGljBHBrZ3YDMwRwb3M DMwRzZWMDdGMtdHMEc2xrA3RpdGxlBHRlc3QDNzAxBHdvZQMxM jc4NjU0Ng--/SIG=14f9k3bn3/EXP=1311376336/**http%3A//search.yahoo.com/search%3Fcs=bz%26p=Star%2BWars%3A%2BThe%2BOld%2BRe public%26fr=fp-tts-701%26fr2=ps%26type=Long_Query

I would guess CE would be gone from preorder soon.

I think I'm going to cave and grab the CE from Gamestop or Walmart if possible. I've missed out on the sells of the CEs for WoW each time. I'm a bigger SWs fan than WoW, so I think regardless of this game possibly bombing, which I doubt, I'll invest in it for my collection. Even tho the box will be opened. Wish I could afford 2 copies tho :/

I picked up a couple copies of the CE for my wife and myself. My brother and his gf are also on the pre-order.

Really looking forward to this game. Reminds me of the anticipation of AoC. Lets just hope it turns out better than AoC.........lol

Did they ever add /follow /assist and such? I will try this game even if its not boxable, but Its kind of WHO I am now ( a multi-boxer ) If a MMO is not multi-boxing friendly, its hard to enjoy it for me 8(.. I have tried.and failed, to go back to soloing many time lol

I heard, not proven, but heard, no auto-attack. If you don't click on a mob and push a button, nothing happens. That sounds about 80% not boxable for me. I might, maybe kinda might have a healer follow around with me like older non-keybroadcasting days when I had 5 mice and keyboards. I would just have the healer stay near me and help heal. But that is just a thought more than a requirement.

AoC is like that and I boxed that for quite a while.

CE preorder placed today. If there are gonna be multiple realms like WoW, we should kinda get together and set up one for all multiboxers here to try and get started up on.

Did they ever add /follow /assist and such?Yes, commands like this will be available. However, as Multibocks mentions above, no Macros for the start.
