My mixed team has only been level 85 for a short time (only been through a normal level 85 instances about 5 times), so maybe its a gear problem. But, I tried Ahune yesterday, and got beaten ... a lot. I've searched for tactics, watched a few videos from last years version of Ahune, and it looks so simple. However, in de videos the small adds seems to do almost no damage, and die very quickly. When I tried it my poor team took a lot of damage, and the little buggers spawned faster than I could kill them.
Has something changed? Or do I just suck too much?
EDIT: damn, posted in the wrong forum, mods pls. move to "Dungeon Boss Encounters, Strategies, and Loot Lists " forum.

Dunno the answer to you problem, but since you apparently managed to get into the Lord Ahune instance, I wanted to ask you how you did it? When I pick Frost Lord Ahune from my LFD tool, the "Join as Party" button is greyed out. It wasn't one time, then by the time I swapped to the master it was greyed out again. Wonder if it's some pre-requisite quest I need?

hmm, I think all quest's required for seasonal bosses was removed years ago - a level requirement is all thats left as far as I know. Then again - maybe you have to really suck to be allowed in?

LOL this must be it... I got the furthest on the attempt I had no healers because both my priests were still specced shadow.

Have your hopefully ranged dps target the boss all the time and dps him. Your tank should be able to take care of all the adds within seconds. Keep your ranged dps with the healer in one group and move them out of AOE all together.

First day of the festival my priest + 4x blood dks went in and wiped 15 times before i gave up.
I always failed because the knock backs were knocking 1 or 2 into the pool to the right unable to get out.
It was hard to see the AOE thing on the ground with my Tauren dks and lots of ads, it was hard to avoid.
So next day after getting enough points for a big weapon upgrade i went back in and downed him first go.
Priest was mana dry by the time ahune came back up for round 2 but dks managed to power through.
This time used my follow key alot and just constantly tab tageted every ad whilst moving every 5 seconds
Dks did not get blasted into the pool this time.
I used army of dead for all the ads and then popped every cooldown as soon as your able to nuke ahune.
Priest constantly had shield and fade on the spam bar.
Also got the Frost weapon in the satchel :) shame it was on one of the Dks :(
Hate them dam stachels, last year 1 shammy got 4 mounts in the bags from brewfest, but since you cant give them to another alt they were wasted :(

Whats killing me is the aura on the rock elemental that does over 15k per 3 sec damage to anyone in range. Everything is fine until he comes back from the second phase. Once he comes back the second rock elemental kicks my teams ass. Next time I try if I do try, I will keep my team far away from him.

Yes keep your ranged people way back. But really peeps, next week you can buy a valor 359 cloak with heroic dungeon points OR you can grind the new Reputation to Friendly and get a 365 cloak. I wouldn't bother with this and wish I had the 4 hours I wasted on it yesterday back. (FU LFD tool not letting my mage team in)

The key to this fight is movement. If your guys can move and drop heals while doing it, and while killing off the adds as they spawn, you'll breeze through it. The last time I did it was on my 5-paladin group pre-4.0, though, so things might be a little different in terms of what's "easy" and what is less so nowadays.

The aura damage in this version is insane. It will take your group down to nothing in no time if your in range of the aura.

Ah, interesting. Makes sense, what with all the other gratuitous AoE added in Cataclysm, though.

So how do you do this with an all melee team (except healer)?
Tank the big add off to one side and then kill the little adds with the rest of the team?

Kill big add as fast as possible while strafing to avoid blowing up I guess. Or are you saying you don't have a healer? I wouldn't bother then, just queue one at a time. Stupid strength cloak dropped all the time.

I can do this with my Paladin Healer friend and my x4 DKs in full Vicious PvP gear.
The x4 DKs are in blood spec and round robin their taunts. Even so, it takes a while and I might lose one.
My Paladin Tank + x3 Shaman + Holy Paladin friend can do this and it is much easier.
