View Full Version : Displaying Party slot # in window

I seem to remember that, once upon a time, people were discussing how to display the Party Slot # in each window using a giant font. The purpose, as I remember it, was to assist in quickly recognizing which toon was still alive and switching to it. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Old age may be creeping up and I can't remember if it was done inside ISBoxer with clickbars, or outside of ISBoxer using an addon (in which case I guess you would be displaying the pure Party #) .

I've combed through d-b.com (http://d-b.com/) using the site:dual-boxing.com (http://dual-boxing.com/) technique as well as through lax's site, but to no avail.

At any rate, if anyone can point me to the thread, or suggest a way of doing this it would be much appreciated.

Thanks folks,

First thought that comes to mind is just create some Clickbar buttons with the corresponding slot number in
them and assign them to the individual characters in your Character List as opposed to the Character Set itself.

I see one immediate problem with this, though. If you happen to use these characters in different slots across
multiple Character Sets the numbers will not correspond. For example, if you assign Bob the number 2 on his
screen, and he is used in Slot2 of one character set and Slot3 on another character set... that will just be
confusing. My method above would mean characters would have to be in their assigned slot regardless of
Character Set.

AND , I believe with ISBoxer and the ability to toggle you may be able to do something along the lines of
resizing these numbers based on whether the window is active or inactive. For instance, your active window
would display the corresponding Clickbar button @ 100% size and the inactive windows would display their
Clickbar buttons @ 200% size (or whatever you input) in case you've got your characters tiled so small that
you can't really read those numbers when they're inactive.

This was a lot to type out and I did it quickly so if any of this doesn't make sense I'm sure I might be able to
reword it. I'm not positive that the Clickbar button resizing on the fly exists in ISBoxer but I'm assuming that
the implementation may be simple enough for Lax to whip up if need be

Thanks Fenril. I'll fool around with this and see how it works.

Quick update.

Fenril's suggestion worked-ish. The maximum text size is 96 pt and I can't figure out how to do the resizing. This leads me to a request for Lax (if he sees this, otherwise no biggee)

Lax,
Any chance you could remove the max text size on the Clickbars? Additionally, is there any way to NOT show the grid boundaries when using Clickbars?

Overall Fenril's suggestion seems to be working like a hot damn. Thanks for taking the time to bang that out dude.

No problem. An alternative to the 96 pt font size limit... just make a few large JPG or PNG files with the
numbers and use them for the buttons to bypass that font limitation in ISBoxer. Might want to make a smaller
set of numbers for the active windows and then a larger set for the inactive windows.

But, someone else will have to tell you if the resizing method is possible because I'm not 100% sure. If it is, it
will most likely fall under the Click Bar State Action of a KeyMap which then you could probably bind to your
Window Swap key to make it change from big to small or vice versa... or something. I'll stop there because I'm
confusing myself a little...

I've not tried using images of different sizes; it might work. If it doesn't, just use two clickbars with different sized images, toggling one off and the other on. Sounds like a lot of work to me though...

Do people do this? For me the slots correspond to the account, always. I suppose if I had more than five accounts I might change it. I suppose some people would find it inconvenient because it would mean for different teams the tank would be on a different slot, but thats the only disadvantage I can think of off the top of my head.

Sitting in the ISBoxer IRC channel and listening to the crazy stuff that some people come up with...

But you're right... my slots correspond to my accounts as well and most likely always will.
