View Full Version : [WoW] I miss my toons :(

I hate blizzard so much at the moment, well for a while now.
I closed my accounts, left 2 active only and havent boxed since I posted here last.
Moved 2 toons my main and main alt to another realm, so can continue raiding, fiance moved his main tank and our daughter her main DK,
All rest of the alts, boxing set toons etc cannot move, cost far to much @ 25 per toon and I needed most of them.
/scream .............
So because I am unskilled like most and boxing most times x4 4 dps 1 healer. and fiance usually tank, but those toons are moved to a high pop realm for raiding purposes, others are some what useless.
Not going to level up more alts and additional 1 to use for tanking. Too time consuming.
I called Blizzard a while ago and asked if there was some way to receive some form of a discount for mass moving alot of toons from my battlenet account which holds 8 accounts or so.
Answer was, No sorry, we do not offer discounts, they are a set fee. So I explained if it cannot be done then I need to close my accounts, which didnt phase them, and so I closed them off.
Im just annoyed I guess, such a hard decision it was to make, to move or not move some toons, if we remained on the realm we were on, raiding be near null, as realm was useless.. and we mostly raid on main toons, so we left the realm.
In doing so meant leaving the life of fun of multi-boxing behind, so thats happened as well.
Just so annoyed in ways, its a real shame, and so stupid of blizzard I feel to not allow discounts or lower then damn transfer fee's.
Had plans to upgrade my PC as you may recall I talked about a few months ago that I was going to do end June, early July for boxing purposes, well now, that idea is fading away as I dont see point in using that money anymore for a new pc when one I have works fine for 1-2 account playing.
And I refuse to sink that much real life money into paying to transfer all my toons to another realm, thats just not justifiable in my eyes.
So I have closed accounts upgraded to cata for some time, collecting dust :(
Boxing became like a drug, without it, Im lost, and really just miss it, and things I did and or strived to try and achieve.
So there is my rant for the day. Hope all is well and kicking butt somehow, pity its not blizzards directly :P

Leveling really doesn't take that much time, and may suck a lot less if you have not yet explored the "new old world".
If you are in a guild that is not yet well leveled, I'm sure they'd appreciate the contribution to guild level they'd get from mass-leveling new toons under them.
If they are at max guild level, you'd get some pretty nice boons to make leveling easier, such as increased mounted speed, more XP/rep/honor per kill/quest and lower cooldowns on hearthing. Plus there's always nice things you can buy from the guild vendor to help, such as the heirlooms and banners.
I'm not one who's ever been interested in pay services like server transfers or race/faction changes when it's so easy to just start over.

I feel your pain.
I am in a similar situation. I currently dislike my realm...it is a medium to low pop server and is practically useless for PvP and PvE.
I've been trying to play the AH game with my army of alchemists, but I can easily saturate the AH in volatiles that never sell.
I would love to transfer 20+ toons to Kil'Jadeon and join Legion of Boom, but I can't justify the cost.
Also, I have no desire to level a fresh set of toons. To me, that is the most boring part of the game.

I wont start over, easy to level yes. time consuming too much for me.
I levelled a few sets im done with levelling. No desire for it + I want my army of alchemists where mains are :(
I know daanji I was on low pop of retardessnes. Playing AH I did as a side thing but did it easily regardless but my interests lie in using my boxers with mains, same realm and thx blizz no can do.
Really pisses me off.
I wanted to move my guild over when they are implemented it, but no point without my boxers with me.
Worst part is nothing can be done, cough up that much real life money, or suck it up.

Just think of the $$$ you get from leveling!
1-80 made enough gold to buy all the flight skills.
Hopefully 80-85 will net me 20k gold for 310% flying

Never understand "hate blizz" posts.
From a business point of view it makes sense - the minute they offer discounts, the whole world and their dogs will want discounts as you may be posting what discount on any number of forums. The ideal business model is "don't discount. Ever" but in reality you have competitors. Now Rift seems to be doing free transfers (correct me if I'm wrong, I don't play it); at some stage if that becomes a key draw for people, WoW may change their policy; but this is unlikely until subs start crashing. Think of it like going to a supermarket and asking if they do volume discounts on grapefruit as you always buy 20 grapefruits each week. They'll most probably say "no" unless it's on promotion.
Loyalty is no longer such a major concern for companies as people shop more on price/promotions and convenience.
From a personal point of view - if you do succeed, let me know as I've got a crap load of toons i'd like to move but can't really afford the transfer fees.

It's feeling vs rational thoughts. We've payed some thousands euro's/dollar's to a company. I can't imagine, that it's that much more effort to move 1 chars or 3 chars between accounts. So I can completely understand that it's dissapointing they do not offer a discount. Like you say, loyalty isn't worth anymore what it was.
Then from blizzard's point of view, I can understand they do not offer a discount. It's easier/better to keep it yes or no, then add a maybe and a gray area. Besides that it would cost them.
You have to be a little crafty.
I wanted to do a mass, rename for 5 toons. and move 2 of them to other accounts. So... I deleted the toons. DELETE.. gone.
I waited about 30 mins, and made new toons on a trial account, with the original names, and messed around and leveled two of them to level 10
A day later, called Blizz up, Told them "my 11 yr old son, (whos not real btw), got on my account and went crazy. I was so mad, but since its just a game, it was hard to be angry at a child... can you help me? is there anything I can do??!?"
Blizz rep - "Sure, I can get your toons back. ... lets see here... oh, wait a second. Sir im sorry, but the names you had, are currently being used, you will have to change the names of each."
Me - Aarrrgh!! oh, well, at least I have them... lets do it.
Blizz rep - "Oh and it seems you no longer have room on your account to do a quick restore."
So after discussing with him that although I was quite upset with Jack, he had wanted to keep the toons he made. The Blizz rep offered to put the two extra toons on the other accounts so they can remain on the server, and keep all faction, gear, guild, etc.. the same. And so I accepted, graciously.
5 name changes, 2 character moves... FREE.

Apps' strategy may work for you. Or you can try honesty... the strategy that worked for me (though I happily paid them some money for their work). You may even have to call Blizz a few times.
Many of us have gotten discounts on multiple moves before. I called up Blizz and told them I wanted to transfer and faction change six MORE toons from Magtheridon to Kil'jaden and was having trouble justifying the cost. I told the rep that I'd had ten accounts forever and had already spent over $500 on character moves over the years (which is true).
The rep looked up my accounts and said, "Wow, you are one of the best customers I've ever seen" then talked to his manager and gave me a deal - if I paid for three transfers and faction changes, they'd cover the other three for me. Done deal.
You may not have the history and number of accounts that I have, but I've got to think if you call, are very pleasant, compliment them on their wonderful game, and explain your situation, you'll find someone helpful. All that was very honest - I'm a pretty pleasant, optimistic guy in general and am happy Blizzard has done such a fabulous job creating this sandbox for all of us to play in. As with anything dealing with customer service, you may have to call multiple times to get someone who is in a good mood and willing do a bit more for you, but waiting on a customer service rep a few times while you are playing (until you get a good one) is no big deal.
Good luck, I feel your pain and couldn't imagine going back to single boxing. I hope it works out for you!

I will try that Merc, I have spent hundreds of dollars in past as well on server transfers as Blizzard can see in my history, might be over 500 to be honest as It was not just my toons, my fiances, my daughters and alot of my alts back n forth.
I had 8 accounts open at one stage for some time, which are all in my name, same battlenet.
I guess I can give it a try and see what they say, because I really miss doing what I was and playing with mutliple toons my way. Was alot of Fun. Hell of alot more then solo playing 1 toon.
Can only try as a last resort and hope like hell it works somehow.
Paying for more many accounts per month is no issue and my own choice to have/use as many as I desire.
Issue is moving that many toons from 1 realm to destination @ 25 per toon, is not something I can justify.
Not on that magnitude anyway.
Fingers crossed will try it over next few days and see what happens.

I called up and spoke to a fella, after explaining to look at my account histiry of paid transfers, thee amoun tof accounts I have and of the ones I recently closed, and explained my situation and cost factor of x amount of toons to be transfered so on, he had said they cannot do it. He admitted the did do them on a case by case basis now and then, where it was for example a 1 for 1 offer or similar, but they have been told internally they are not allowed to offer these kind of deals anymore. Prices are set there is no more case by case basis and not much he can do for me.
Conversation went on for about 20 minutes and he was certain he cannot offer any discounts or anything other then assisting with the set prices that are in place.
I guess I can try again later, hoping a different representitive has a solution im looking for.
Though doesnt look to good lol.
Crossing my toes now.
How many times did you call before you got lucky ?

Bummer. If they've changed the system I'm sorry. I did this about 6 weeks ago, so it wasn't that long. If they've changed the policy it was very recent.
Anyway, I had to call twice. First guy wouldn't give me any sort of deal. Second guy was much more helpful.
I'd keep calling. And I wouldn't spend that much time with one rep. Be nice and courteous and explain your situation but if they say no, I wouldn't tell them about it being done for someone else you know or ask again. Just hang up, wait ten minutes, and call again.
I wish you luck.

Shania: "Hi, I have a bit of a problem, bla bla bla."
Blizz guy:"Yes, i spoke to you 10 minutes ago.."
Shania: "Oh... ok, I'll give you another 10 minutes to reconsider?"
:D
LOL, thats good Littleburst.
Ok so, "officially", Blizzard as a corporation does not give discounts. Seems Shania's experience and recent communication is correct. There was indeed a departmental "notice" to no longer operate "personally", and instead be "unified professionally".
A college ex roommate works for Activision. Hes NOT a GM. Brad, does however, know some of the dev people within Blizzard.
This is a comment from a blizz development employee via Brad.. "keep trying. You can get a sympathetic ear."
He also suggested emailing with someone from the blizzard account recovery department. He said, even though that particular department can not assist you, they could tell you, or offer you an email of a person, you CAN talk to... like a department head. He stated there are quarterly goals, and depending on the quarter, the dept head may make an exception, as they are the first level of management who can. The GM's simply can not, anymore. Lastly, he suggested emailing one of the GM/development employees from the web forum boards. He said THEY have more authority over accounts than a 8-5 GM does.
I am going to send you a private message with one email address to contact.
Good luck.
