Just received this in my email. It's a trailer they released at E3. I hope this game can break my wow addiction.

That trailer is amazing. I got the email as well.
Though my wow addiction was put on hold via Rift, I think this will win out.

The smuggler is almost identical to the character I played a decade ago in the pen and paper game Rifts.

yeah the trailer was great.
I have been planning my exit from wow and into SW KotOR for some time now. Given the release date has moved 3 times now, I have put this game in the back of my mind. When its out... ill go get it, and cancel WoW.

I think they'll make a Oct/Nov release this year.
I really hope the game play lives up to the hype. This is one I've been looking forward to.

I am looking forward to it quite a bit. I admit I don't play many other games than WOW in the RPG genre, but I would like to try different things (voice acting, choices you make in quests make a difference, and flying combat as a distraction---instead of arena as a distraction). I am already worried that Blizzard will screw up Diablo 3 trying to put in rules for its arena that messes with the solo or group PVE play.

I'll probably give it a try, not reall a big Star Wars fan but not much else to keep me busy. Haven't played Rift in a while, slowly leveling a lowbie team in WoW. Mostly been spending my time lately on Star Trek Online which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

40+ minutes of gameplay. Provided that there is in-game follow this looks totally boxable.

Sucks that we gotta wait that long. Now would be a good timing to have a new game.

Considering how long it's been in development and how many times the release window has been pushed, having only 3-5 months left is nothing imo~.

Very good point. Bioware is very wary of getting into the MMO business, however really wants to, considering the mass amount of money in the available market. I'm very willing to wait a few more months. Below is a quote from the wiki site, to better emphasize how long its been in development.
The Old Republic marks BioWare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioWare)'s first entry into the MMORPG market,[27] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Old_Republic#cite_note-gamespotvideo-26) and it will be the second Star Wars MMORPG after Star Wars Galaxies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Galaxies). BioWare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioWare) had long been interested in working on a MMORPG, but waited until they had "the right partners, the right team, and the right I.P. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_property)"[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Old_Republic#cite_note-gamespotarticle1-7) A major focus in the game is on developing characters' individual stories[27] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Old_Republic#cite_note-gamespotvideo-26) and, in October 2008, BioWare considered this game to have more story content than all of their other games combined.[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Old_Republic#cite_note-gamespotarticle1-7) The writing team has been working on the project longer than any of the game's other development teams.[44] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Old_Republic#cite_note-ignpreviewpg2-43) An October 2008 preview noted some of the 12 full-time writers had been working on The Old Republic for more than two years at that point.[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Old_Republic#cite_note-gamespotarticle1-7)

Release window has not been pushed at all... yet. It was always confirmed to be a 2011 release (fiscal year). This is still valid. Just "players" have assumed it might be 2010, early 2011, afterwards summer 2011, ... An official release date was not announced so far.

Wow, thats interesting. Mind providing where this fact came from?
Myself and several others have been following www.swtor.com (http://www.swtor.com) and pc.ing.com (http://www.dual-boxing.com/pc.ing.com)since Octover 2008. I have seen threads and tweets of release by Stephen Reid twice now where the game's official date, was posponed. Trailers postponed, artwork delays, project delays.
I will admit, several blog sites such as this one...http://hzero.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/stephen-reid-confirms-swtor-delay/ (http://hzero.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/stephen-reid-confirms-swtor-delay/) have documented and reported where release date threads were deleted, altered, locked, and new threads put up. (honestly, I dont care that much to make screen shots just to prove a company's trickery) This is the stem of much of the critisizm with the release date issues.... so if anyone were to just do a 5 min google search, they may believe the "original" release date is Q3/Q4 2011.
Regardless. The game isnt playable yet. I, as have many others, have given up the excitement phase of awaiting the release. I'll play it when its ready. Till then... anyone who claims to know the release date, is just babble to me.

Ok, got me. Seems like you have been following the forums more than I did. I never realized that there was a "spring" 2011 target date... just a 2011. Thanks for that. However, still do not see SWTOR as one of the games which have been shifted "frequently".
After re-reading my post, it does sound a bit snippy.
Actually, the original release date was Q1/Q2 2010. The game is a year late. But then again, Bioware has made it very very clear, they are intending to launch a flawless launch, no matter how long it takes. Lucasfilm is equally paired in that commitment... No doubt this is why its fan base is remaining as loyal, even before the game launches.

They currently have a targeted "release window" (their words, not mine) of Q4 of 2011. I know the date has been pushed numerous times, but based off of how much info and videos of gameplay they've been putting out at the various trade shows and cons I honestly think they'll make this window.
That 45 minute long video looks pretty f'ing polished to me.

Lots of the information shared so far and especially on the E3 are looking "polished" (apart maybe from the AI of NPCs... however it was mentioned that this is adjusted for the moment to allow player to experience more content).
I'm also actually quite positive on multiboxing the game. For sure not all the information are available yet (as the final EULA, as I've learned also the possibility to start different instances at once)... however it seems like we will have a follow-command, the chance to define key-shortcuts (even to control the companions), etc. So I'm crossing my fingers on both, the release date and option to box it ("Dungeons" with 2 Accounts and 2 Companions... sounds very challenging and interesting to me.

Groups are only 4 people, so that should be easier on the wallet :)
Though, if raiding only requires 8 people...

... the small raids, there will be also larger raids in game, just not announced / decided how many players can team up for that.

Damn that mouse looks cool!
I'm looking forward to this game, but I am definitely keeping the hype in perspective especially considering recent reviews of game play from E3. I'm pretty much of the mindset of "expect the worst, hope for the best" as it is, at it's core, another hotkey mmo.
Still haven't decided Jedi or Sith though :p
where is the order button!?
