cool addons that might help out multiboxing. Lax can maybe get an addon made to make the macros needed for assist and for the FTL like in wow

Biggest thing I look forward to with addons in Rift: unit frames customization. The default ones _suck_.

I would really like something like Altoholic, so I can see gear and bank content for all my characters across all accounts from my main character. Including search for items.

Altoholic and some MB friendly addons woul dbe great, as would a bag/bank organizer.

I fail to see how the UI is bad in rift when they give you the option to customize it however you like. Just bring up the menu and hit Edit Layout.

This statement is only true for very limited values of "however you like".

Here is a small list of things that I would like to be able to do but can't do with Edit Layout:

Remove the completely useless portraits. Combo points for rogues can go elsewhere.
Remove the huge borders that most of the UI elements have.
Have the raid frames flow horizontally rather than vertically.
Show HoTs on raid frames.
Change the relative size of health/mana/charge bars on unit frames. One of these is more important than the others.
There are many, many others. From my perspective, the default Rift UI is an exercise in bad UI design with a sheen of customisability. It seems to have been designed solely to make the transition from WoW as easy as possible. I hope they give us the option of changing every aspect of its look and feel.

This ^^^^^.

Positioning = CHECK
Sizing/scaling = CHECK
Showing text in the health/mana bars = CHECK
Resizing other portions to basically give you anything similar to Pitbull/etc. that WoW had = FAIL

I'm not after every single feature like overheal prediction or full grid functionality but I'd very, very, very much like to be able to have 5 big green squares that show me something similar to the raid frames but in different order/etc. for team-only and/or raids. Also, ordering by alpha or discrete names would be nice.

OMG Jamba. Can't we bribe Jafula to come play RIFT with us for a while? :)

The questing x5 is this game is almost unbearable... but then for Jamba I make heavy use of IWT to open quest dialogs anyways, so maybe it wouldn't work so well anyways.....

Update: here's hoping someone makes an addon that plays loud sounds when guild chat happens. I miss so much when I'm busy with an invasion or instance run. :p

/agree with the desire for a Jamba for Rift

Regarding questing, though, doesn't broadcasting right-clicks work for you? I've had pretty good luck with that aside from the occasional positioning issues when looting.

This is how I do it as well. Not quite as simple as IWT but you certainly shouldn't have to target with each character. I made a video at some point showing this for RIFT, here it is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBxMm9fnXvw).

Not quite sure what you do, Alge... Do you have a hotkey to toggle both broadcasting and videofeeds? Then Right-Click here and there until you see all videofeeds filled with the quest dialog?

Hmm, I think Rift has keybinds for setting a specific camera view, so we can make sure all characters have the same view. That should help with broadcasting clicks also...
Also, I read that Rift added a keybind to close all UI dialogs in the patch yesterday (not just hitting ESC and which can display the main menu instead).

There is no specific camera view keybind; I just looked. Also, there is no "close all UI dialogs" that I can find, either. At least, not that I can find in the keybind menus.

Yeah, I have a hotkey that turns on both mouse broadcasting and those video feeds. Then I right-click once for my slaves (I line them up properly at the beginning of a session and as long as I don't switch to them they stay lined up) with broadcasting on, quickly flick broadcasting off, right-click for my main, flick broadcasting back on and then left click to accept or finish quests. This setup works well because I have the broadcasting toggle set to scroll right on my mouse, so it takes the barest of movements to toggle broadcasting and I can do all this without taking my left hand from my G13.

Hmm, it seems I mixed up some other game regarding setting a camera view and the new "keybindings for clearing your primary target, and clearing all targets" mentioned for the 1.3 patch.

I normally run on multiple machines and with various resolutions so I haven't looked much at mouse repeating yet. But I just started playing with video feeds (whole screen) instead of using a window layout. Then I can run all at full resolution. I have a Keymap for MouseSync + MouseClick on Ctrl+LMB or Ctrl+RMB. It seems this will work pretty good to get something similar to what Alge is doing, as well as teleporting the team and accepting group invites...

You really don't need to setup all the video feed stuff unless you have buried windows that you can't see otherwise. Once you get pretty good at driving your alts, it becomes basically second nature.

Video feeds are an alternative to using a window layout. They can give you a fullscreen experience while still enjoying the control you get with a window layout where each character has a dedicated rectangle on your screen.

For everyday use, it's nice for verification purposes - that they're all accepting/finishing the quests, teleporting, logging in, accepting group invites, trade windows, that their "out of breath" bars are gone when resurfacing from under water, etc. All those small little things gets taken care of.

It's also extremely easy to set up a fullscreen-kind of video feed, since you don't need to set up any source or make sure everything is positioned properly. Just use is1/is2/etc as name and you'll get their entire screen.

I have a Click Bar on top of the video feeds so I can mouse-click to bring up that particular character and do whatever I need to do with that particular character (with full FTL support).
