It's really been closed since Cataclysm...

I've had a few people asking me this lately and it's my own fault for never posting about it, but we're not doing the rated arena forum anymore. It's currently in a read only state only accessible to those that were granted access last season.

The original intent of the Rated Arena forum was to give the high rated multiboxers a place to share their super duper zomg gonad sekrets of winning. I was originally against this as I'm not a fan of closing off parts of the site to the rest of the community. But I was led to believe more than 1 of the high rated 5s multiboxers would be sharing some really good content with the rest of the PvP boxers, but only if it was in a closed off section. Against my better judgement i went along with it. It was a painful and tedious vetting process as well since the access to the forum was all handled manually by me. Well, long story a little shorter, the people who pushed so hard for the forum never held up their end of the agreement and nothing of substantial value was ever discussed / shared. There was some good discussion there though, some good theory of counter comps but there wasn't anything G14 Classified (As Fenril likes to say) that couldn't have been publicly discussed in the PvP forum.

I won't be adding anymore members to the Rated Arena user group. Those that have it will continue to have it and will continue to have the option of displaying their name in red if they choose.

TL;DR: No, you can't have your name in red (unless you already have it)

I still think you should have some sort of custom title or something for people who are 2k+ in arena.

Just make your sig a screeny of your achv. otherwise why limit it to just the pvpers? There are other aspects to the game.

Do you want a purple name for killing rag by yourself? There was one person to reach high level end game boxing and even kill LK... the measuring stick for PVE accomplishments isn't as cut and dry.

Getting 2k isn't as simple as that either. Class comp matters a lot. How strong is that class now. Ele sham had it's seasons, so did rets and now there's DK. Leaving aside the different battlegroups and skill/rating ratio's in them.

Not really, if I did want recognition, I'd make a siggy with it as I suggested before. Rag isn't a big deal anymore.

There was also funkstar or thefunk (the guy with 5x shadowmourne).
There was netchja, I tripple boxed LK (was in 4.0, still pre cata), know another guy who 4 boxed him.

And there are probably others as well.

Funkstar was running his 5 DKs in 5 separate raids. If he actually 5 boxed a LK kill I missed the thread.

I'm pretty confident in the DK team and it's ability to break 2200. A friend of mine who hasn't been playing for pretty much my DK's lifespan came back to wow this week. We queued some games together last night. Went 9-0 vrs a decent pool of 1800 rated teams. These games were very 1 sided lasting less than 30sec in most cases.

Then we queued into 3 War + Dk + Priest 1900+ team series went 7-2 (us)
Then we queued into 2200+ Rogue/DK/War/Resto Sham/Resto Druid (3 people on the team had 2500 MMR). Everyone on the team was full tier 2 pvp gear and the series went 2-3 (them winning the 3). But considering this was a double healer team with a rogue. Pretty much the hardest comp for 4 DK + 1 right now I'm pretty happy with the results. I still have pieces of blue pvp gear to upgrade so it was a pretty good confidence boost for this team ( currently sitting at mid 1900s 2k isn't far off...). After playing with some one I've known for awhile that knows how to play I think I'm over my goal of 2k 5s playing all 5 and my new goal is 2200 weapons. I'm still trying for 2k+ 3 frost DKs.



That was last night's arena after a bad start in 3 DK 3s.

Through BC + WOTLK I was able to break 2k with the shamans, but I wasn't ever one to get into glad range or break 2200. I always seemed to get cock blocked in the 2050-2150 range. The thing that I love about the DK zerg is exactly that it's a zerg. You come out strong and fast no totem setup / turtling waiting to use your i win button. Oh shit they didn't die turtle till EM is back up play style, and the amount of pressure you can put on secondary and tertiary targets for hard swaps is amazing. I also have better defensive CDs and ways out of CC.

I'm not saying anyone does or does not deserve fancy ranks or anything. I'm saying right now I'm not issuing any special ranks or name colors outside what I've already done. Of course, this is subject to change at any time, and without any notice.
