View Full Version : ISBoxer: 2nd PC alts "scaled" like single-PC-insta-swap alts?

So, I'm trying the 7-day trial of ISBoxer. For my Rift setup, I have one main in 1680x1050 on my 1st PC and 3 alts at 920x575 on my 2nd PC. Things are finally working OK (/slaps mouse repeater into submission) but I do have one last thing I can't find on the ISB forums or elsewhere: how do I put the 3 alts on PC2 into "scaled" mode where they're rendering 1680x1050 but all 3 sized 920x575 so they're all big enough to see? I'm sure I've probably just missed a non-obvious setting somewhere.

What you're looking for is the "Reset Region" for your Swap Group (group of related windows for swapping, e.g. on a particular monitor), in your Window Layout (http://isboxer.com/wiki/Window_Layout). That's where the window will go when the resolution needs to be reset, and ISBoxer will try to match the game's resolution to this size.

Then as long as Instant Swap is enabled in your layout, when it goes to its Home region or the Active region, it will scale from the Reset size.

So to use this:
1. Select your Window Layout in the top pane
2. Select Regions in the bottom left pane
3. Right click in the window layout preview area and select New Region. This is going to be your Reset Region.
4. Click and drag this new region to be the size you need it to be. You can also manually adjust the numbers in the properties pane to the right
5. Click the Swap Groups tab at the top of the properties pane to the right
6. Swap Group 1 should already be selected. Set the Reset Region to be your new Region
7. Export

Let me know if that doesn't get you going ;)

Very strange. It keeps putting my alt 1 onto the region 4 reset region.

I have slot 1 set to home region 1.
Slot 2 is set to home region 2.
Slot 3 is set to home region 3.
Region 4 is set to <NO SLOT>.

Swap group 1 is set to:
Roaming slot: <NO SLOT>
Active region: <NO REGION>
'Reset' region: Region 4

I tried setting active region to region 1 but no dice. Ditto for Roaming slot to slot 1.

[edit] Correction: it loads all 3 onto reset region 4 but then punts alts 2 and 3 onto the correct regions (2 and 3, respectively).

My eyes are bleeding. I'll check back in tomorrow when I've had some sleep. :p

I have slot 1 set to home region 1.
Slot 2 is set to home region 2.
Slot 3 is set to home region 3.
Region 4 is set to <NO SLOT>.
All of them "go to the reset region", it's just that Slot 1 isn't moving to its home after that due to a bug relating to the "Never" swap option. You had it right, you shouldn't have changed anything after that ;)

Here is a test fix, let me know if this helps (install over existing files, dont need to uninstall anything, your config is kept, etc. this is just like a normal upgrade to ISBoxer): http://www.lavishsoft.com/downloads/mods/Lavish.ISBoxerSuite.38.4.518.1.exe

Cool. I'll take a look at this when I get home from work. Thanks for the feedback. ;)

That 518.1 build does not appear to have resolved it. Main still gets stuck in the region 4 reset region.

Just in case I missed something:

Ugh, you should be able to just right click on the particular Window Layout in question and paste that code to
www.privatepaste.com (http://www.privatepaste.com) to share it for ease of troubleshooting.

Not that I could successfully troubleshoot it, but for Lax when he swings back by. :)

heh, I figured it would ease things if it were just visible at a glance like the UI shows without him having to wade through text. :p

He wouldn't have to, he'd paste your layout into his ISBoxer and look through it. :)

But, anyway... I'm sure you'll both get this figured out. /derail

Chalk it up to me being an ISB noob but I didn't think of importing it. :p

I think that meant you got it working now, I just double checked it by making sure it's broken on 516.1 and works fine on 518.1.

If I am reading you wrong let me know, sometimes I think someone got it taken care of and then they come back to me a week later with the same thing ;)

Hi, Lax. I'm seeing no change in behavior with 518.1. Alt 1 still sticks on reset region 4. I'm not missing some keystroke that would "initialize" the regions and put them all back to their home regions, am I? I just load them up, they all load on region 4 (the full size region) and only alts 2 and 3 move off to their smaller home regions.

Go to the About window in the Help menu and make sure it isn't offering you a new version.

You don't need to press a Hotkey, this update should make the window go to the right position on its own.

But, if it's not working for you with 518.1, then you can do it with a Hotkey for now while I work on that.

To set up said hotkey:
1. In the top pane, under Key Maps, select Control
2. In the bottom left pane, right click Mapped Keys and select New Mapped Key
3. Name it something other than "New Mapped Key". Like "Fix the window" or something.
4. Give it a Hotkey. You're only going to have to press this once (or maybe once each time you reload ISBoxer settings while playing) so it doesn't need to be easily accessible
5. In the bottom left pane, under your new mapping, where it says Steps, 1, select the 1.
6. In the bottom right pane, where it says Step, Actions, right click Actions and select Window State Action (under Window Actions)
7. Set the Target of this Action to either Slot 1, or Window:Current. The bug will always be affecting Slot 1, it's up to you whether you want to be able to hit the key from another window and have the instruction go to slot 1, or that window.
8. Set "Where" to Foreground. You don't have an Active region in your Swap Group, so in this case Foreground is the same as Background and this doesn't really matter. But it might confuse you less. :)
9. How should remain "Instantly"
10. Export and use the Hotkey.

In my about window, the current version says 518.1 and latest version says 516.1? The reported latest version is lower than the one I got from you. Being a software QA guy, that was the first thing I checked. ;)

I'll check the hotkey setup you mention above tonight and let you know what I find out.

Yep, that hotkey does work around the problem.

FYI, the 519.1 build still leaves my slot 1 character screen on the reset region. The hotkey still works.
