I currently have Overpowered Chicken Splitter,

I'm currently only playing normal dungeons (and have enough trouble with those), will this weapon I've seen on AH be an upgrade for me?
Crossfire Carbine, http://www.wowhead.com/item=60210 (http://www.wowhead.com/item=60210)

I know it's not a real hunter weapon, but if I'm only playing normal dungeons and battlegrounds, is this the best damage output my hunter can get?

from a dps standpoint yes, but from a usefulness standpoint (other stats) no.

This is just a generic MM score, you can mess around with the other spec filters if you want also.

http://www.wowhead.com/items?filter=sl=15;minrl=85;ub=3;gm=4;wt=21:138:11 9:96:103:170;wtv=100:100:80:60:40:20

Looks like the higher dps is better than the stats, you will have to decide if it is worth the upgrade price. (nevermind: looks like I was looking at the heroic version)

Edit: typos in my link

Whilst the carbine has higher base DPS, you're sacrificing so much agility to wield it, it's really not a goer!

It's well worth loading your char (from the Armory) into Mr Robot (stupid name for a wow gear site but a fantastic site, all the same)...

http://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/gear

Load you char
Select your current target - I select "pre-ZG/ZA" which will target heroic drops at most
Tick other options as desired (you can ignore rep items if you want and exlude expensive enchants etc)

Any item in your list with a red triangle next to it can be improved.
Click the "..." button to see a potential shopping list.

You can also ask Mr Robot to optomise your current gear - click the Optomise button and it will determine reforge, gems and enchants for your gear.

A word of warning here - even if you've target pre-Zul, it will still aim for raiding 'hit' level, where appropriate, so you might need to downweight hit in the Stat Weight Editor if you're not interested in raiding 'hit' for now.
I tweaked my (Night Elf) Hunter today and it was optimising my hit to 966, which is for raiding - I had to downweight the hit stat from 0.08 to 0.06 to get it to aim for 725 hit, which is enough for normal and heroics.

Before you go and pay for the reforging, gems and enchants, click the Show Stats button to see your stats as they are and when optimised - just to make sure :)

For my hunter it recommeneds the Kickback 5000 as the best-in-slot for pre Zul - http://www.wowhead.com/item=59367
less agility than the Chicken Splitter but with a red slot for a +40 agility gem.
